McMaster has sent out offers and to my understanding also informed people who were wait-listed.

When I interviewed at York a couple of years ago it was both. There was a lot of general info with an itinerary that included a tour of the psych facilities, but also individual interviews with your supervisor and their grad students. Things may have changed with COVID though (aside from just being virtual).

Get in touch with the grad admin handling applications. It's well before due dates, I'm sure they'll understand and make the change in your application.

Hi, if you're not a Canadian citizen I would firstly look into whether or not programs will be accepting any international students this year. Some schools don't consider international students for their clinical programs, and this may be more common this year because of COVID-19. This also affects funding, because as international student you won't be able to apply for CGS-M, which is the main source of funding students entering Master's programs apply for. There's been a lot of discussion this year about GREs because of COVID-19, if you look through the thread you'll find a resources people have shared about which school require GRE scores. In general, yes, you should get in touch with profs before applying to work with them. Publications aren't super important if you have strong research experience, I (along with others in my cohort) didn't have any publications when applying. I don't think Canadian universities are super unique in the way they expect CVs/personal statements are to be written. Search up examples of academic CVs and personal statements people have used in their applications for reference, but you really want to communicate how your past research/clinical experiences have set you up to be ready for the program you're applying for, and why you're a great match to work with the profs you're interested in.

Absolutely! It shows that your application is deserving of funding. You just list it like you would any award, but put "(declined)" at the end.

I didn't get invited to interview, but haven't received an official rejection yet. People on the results page received acceptances ~10 days ago, so I'd assume you're on the waitlist. About 4 students seem to make it from the waitlist each year, so I wouldn't lose hope!

Heard from a current UTSC grad student today that the department sent out all of their offers, and that all offers were accepted ?

For our purposes, it means the same thing ? But it does mean that it wasn't necessarily that your application wasn't strong enough, just that there wasn't a good fit with the professors recruiting students this cycle. Were you in touch with a prof before applying?

Got an offer from McMaster today! Shocked because we had interviews just this past weekend, but also absolutely ecstatic!

Ah, sorry! Won't be able to say much about that. Didn't apply there and everything seems quiet from them. Typically I think it's just professors who reach out to interview students over Skype/phone for them, I don't think it would hurt to send an email. Did you reach out to them before applying?

Hey! To be completely honest, I don't think this forum topic is the best resource to answer your question. This topic is specifically for Canadian clinical psychology programs, all of which have stopped taking applications for Fall 2020, and some have already started giving out acceptances. This is also the case for the Canadian experimental psychology Master's programs I've seen, though there may be some programs still applications.

Received an informal offer from my Windsor POI for Neuropsych! My application still has to go through some committees and the Dean before a formal offer, but I'm very excited.

McMaster doesn't have a separate track for Neuropsychology, all clinical training is done in the RCT stream of the PNB program. Unless you mean Neuroscience, which is a separate program altogether and just had applications due on Jan 14. It doesn't apply to that.

McMaster: February 7 + 8

Hi, I was at the UTSC departmental interviews today. My understanding is that all profs participate in this, admission in the program is a committee decision and we were interviewed by three non-POI members of faculty (in addition to POIs).

Had a phone interview with one of my Windsor POIs today, and like teenygreeny mentioned for USask, this was basically their formal interview as well. They don't do in-person departmental interviews or anything like that, they have an open house for invited students in March. Official admission offers will be sent out by mid-February, informal offers will be made earlier. This was for neuropsych, but I got the impression that all three of their streams work similarly in this process.

It depends on the school, so it''s hard to say. For informal interviews profs go at their own pace but they have an internal deadline to send the program admin a list of which applicants they want invited to the departmental interviews/open house. For most schools I think by the end of January PIs should at least have reached out informal interviews, though I know for York last year they were still doing those during the first week of February. If you met or spoke with a prof before applying, they might not do an informal interview with you, but it wouldn't hurt to follow up with them to see where things are.

I got an email from the program manager yesterday with an invite to the departmental interviews and a separate interview with my POI

My interview is on grad weekend, but I also met my PI before applying so I imagine other PIs are doing informal interviews before sending invites.

Was invited to an interview at McMaster today, they’ll be sending grad weekend (February 7, 8) invites shortly.

Anybody hear anything from UTSC? Their departmental interview dates are Jan 27-29 (according to their website), so it feels a little late to not have gotten anything.
