  1. Agreed-- I have been to the open houses, and honestly all of the programs seem fabulous. I can see myself being happy at any of these programs. What other factors do people sue to decide where to go? I'm just confused all over and want to make the best decision!!
  2. That's a great point! Thank you for your input. This is such a difficult decision. The truth is, I have visited the universities and believe I would be happy at any of the programs... and they're all such great programs... oy. Make the decision that much harder
  3. Hi all! I have offers from PhD programs in neuroscience from UIC, Northwestern, University of Chicago, and University of Southern California. My preference right now is for the latter 3, but I'm having trouble deciding which program to commit to and must make a decision by the April 15 deadline-- any insight into prestige of programs/factors to consider/any thoughts at all?? Very confused and appreciate any insight! Thanks in advance!
  4. Question-- what's typical etiquette for how long u take to decide when accepting/rejecting offers? I was given an offer from my top choice a couple weeks ago and anticipate ultimately accepting with them, but have a trip out of town to tour the campus of another school i have an acceptance from and want to make my final decision after i've seen both campuses. But i dont know how long is too long... thoughts?
  5. Hi there- I interviewed at UIC and got an offer a few weeks back. Not sure if they're planning on sending out more offers. Best of luck!
  6. anyone hear back from northwestern NUIN after Friday 2/11's interview?
  7. Before. They didn't ask me to send in any additional documents from what I submitted in the application.
  8. Y'ALLLLL I HAVE AN OFFER FROM UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO ?? THIS IS UNREALLLLL
  9. has anyone who interviewed at USC heard back yet? how about anyone who interviewed with the integrative neuroscience program at UChicago?
  10. Also, for those of you who have been saying your interviews were laid back-- I also want to mention that several of my interviews have been VERY dense. Not all of them, but some of them were definitely notably and deliberately dense. Just a note to stay prepared to answer questions beyond your own research work.
  11. So i received an offer from a school and responded back that i'm super excited abt the offer but am still interviewing and would like some time to think abt my decision after completing all itnerviews- and I haven't gotten a response back from the department yet. The email was carefully worded and super polite/grateful/professional-- do we think it's a little weird I haven't gotten a response back yet? It's been over 24 hours since I sent my response
  12. Hi all-- I just received my first acceptance earlier today (woo hoo!) and am wondering how to respond to an acceptance when you're still interviewing with other programs and want to tell the program you want to interview with/hear back from all schools before making a decision?
  13. In one of my interviews, I have been assigned to interview with a professor who is actually an orthopedic surgeon who does research on the side, so I am unable to find more than a couple of sentences explaining his research work! Advice on how to prep for this interview? For all my other interviews I'm studying up on their work but I feel like I can't do this for him...
  14. Has NUIN sent out any offers yet? their first recruitment day was on Friday
  15. Also, what do we think about schools wanting to send "merch?" Is this usually a good sign that they really want you?
  16. How many interviews do we think is a good "cushion" to ensure you will be accepted somewhere? If you're invited to interview, there's typically over a 50% chance you'll be accepted, correct?
  17. I have! Here's what they said: In the coming weeks, the committees will be finalizing their admissions decisions. The selected applicants will be invited to interview virtually February 15-17, 2022. This will be our only interview session. Those admitted will be invited, at our expense, to an in-person visit March 17-20, 2022. In general, if an applicant has not heard about a possible invitation by mid-February, it is unlikely that they will be invited to Stanford or admitted. Applicants who are not selected for an interview will receive a letter that states that no further action will be taken on their application. Hope this is helpful!!!
  18. oh got it! can i ask the initials of the PI you're interviewing with?
  19. Does anyone know what the chances are of being interviewed after being placed at the "top of the waitlist" for interview? Seems like there are 3 different interview weekends.... not sure if the last one might be reserved for last second/waitlisted interviewees?
  20. has harvard sent rejections yet? do we think it;s worth it to reach out and ask in case we've been waitlisted..
  21. For those of you who have received an invitation with NUIN-- were you given an option to choose to interview between 3 different interview dates? or did they just give you a January interview date?
  22. Hi! wouls you mind sharing PI initials of who you're interviewing with at Univ of Denver? Thank you!!
