I just got an email saying I’ve been waitlisted for the advanced standing MSW at u of t! Now it’s just time to wait! Has anyone else heard this yet?

I was also waitlisted! ^ above she says everyone is waitlisted... but idn

You’re right. It is negative. I guess I’m just being a realist to a point. Just from scouring the previous forums.

U of T was the only school I applied to because it’s the only one I really want to go to and I don’t want to have to move. I’m pretty heartbroken. I now have to wait another year before applying again. I’m not young like some folks so this is maybe a bigger issue for me.

It's frustrating.. I feel similar.. Ive worked very hard too.. I don't know what I'm missing.

I am considering applying for clinical counselling MA degrees - I want to work in arts-based therapy

It seems like they just waitlist everyone who meets the minimum requirements. You rarely hear of anyone actually being rejected.

That is a negative perspective and I'm not sure if that is even true.. some people will reject their place and therefore people will get off wait list

Everyone who still hasn’t heard yet about the advanced standing u of t MSW... I’ve been told by someone who applied two years ago that there are two rounds of acceptances before we hear about the waitlist.... so that’s nice to hear! Hoping it’s true! ????

Are they aware of when this second round would happen?

Was trying to find evidence of this in the previous forums but couldn't

Bleh, I have to say I'm holding a bit of a heavy heart after not hearing anything from UofT and there being no change on Acorn. Witnessing how gruelling this process can be for all of us, and definitely interested to hear how folks are managing self-care strategies through this time? I'm trying to distract myself and take breaks from this Forum/compulsively checking online portals - anybody else have any suggestions or things that y'all have been doing to move through this time? Also trying to remind myself that Masters programs and academia offer so much upward class mobility and how much of a privilege that is itself, and that this isn't the end of the world if it things don't come to fruition.

Congrats to folks who have heard, and will continue to receive offers of admission! And also naming how it can be complicated to witness others getting in when some of us haven't (it's so gross that academia/capitalism pin us against one another when we're all just trying to do some good work). For folks still waiting to hear back or haven't gained admission, feel free to slide into my DMs if you want some witnessing or an anonymous human to debrief with! ?

I truly need to up my self care game.. I couldn’t sleep at all last night and was being unkind to myself.. thanks for helping me to catch this. I totally agree with all of your opinions on this.. we are all so qualified and it’s truly a stressful process to be judged against one another

Hi, everyone! Just signed up and congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far. I applied to York and Ryerson. Has anyone heard back from either yet? I know Ryerson probably won't be for a bit because I recall them saying they'd begin rolling out acceptances mid March but what about York?

I applied to ryerson too! I haven’t heard anything but from lurking previous forums we will find out in early March! What are your research interests like?!

Your experience is absolutely phenomenal!! Congrats on all you achieved! ?

Thank you so much !! I needed to hear that ❤️ i'm pretty upset as I did not get an offer from U of T... I am REALLY hoping on ryerson because they have such a heavy research focus and are actively interested in interdisciplinary collaboration

    Where did you apply?

    INVITED!

Same thing happened with my status on Acorn though, it popped up and then disappeared after my browser timed out. I really think it has to do with the site issues they've been having today, lets all just take a breather, I think we're in the clear!

    Congrats! Did yours just appear?

I think u of T is playing a sick joke on me ! They put invited and when I refreshed the page the invited message was gone! Lol

I'm sure you got in, their system seems to be a bit of a mess today.  Clearly lol

  10. Did you guys who got into U of T take full course loads? I wonder if that is my issue.. I did my BSW part time.. I wonder if it harmed me in someway..

I just really want to know how to strengthen my application for next year if I end up having to apply again.

Nothing for me yet either. Trying to gently remind myself that my self-worth isn’t reliant on how these institutions perceive me. Hope y’all are able to carry some gentleness with yourselves as well ?

Thanks for this reminder.. we all need to hear it right now. I think it is difficult because this job comes from the heart... but yep it is a highly competitive program.

Warm Wishes to all of you.
