This seems weird. One of my professors talked to my missing LOR. She thinks she sent them all in december. But she hasnt. But, she hasnt contacted me at all. You would think she would contact me via email after she found out that none of the letters are there. But nope. I called her house phone and left a message. I hope she checks them! The deadlines are FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! She needs to answer her phone!

One of my LOR specifically stated in his LOR that Dr. XXX will be writing a letter and to reading hers to see how much experience I have in the lab. It will make him look dumb if I got another LOR. This prof that I am waiting on was my research advisor for over a year now. She knows so much about me. I feel like her letter will make me competitive for the programs. But, right now, she is ruining my chances of getting into any programs. Some schools said it wont be a problem. But, I think it really will be a problem.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the deadline is friday!

Well I guess since I don't have perfect GRE and GPA that I feel if I get accepted to any PhD program I will be beyond excited! I applied to all these schools because I know I could see myself there for 5 years.

I dont understand at all how that is bittersweet?! You got into a PHD program! You are set, you can be rejected from all other programs and still have a school to go to. I am very confused by your statement.

Dr. Harmon Hosch at the University of Texas at El Paso, Legal psychology program. He has been very helpful. I would ask him questions and besides just giving me another person to email, he would find that person and find out the answer for me. I hope he fights for me in the adcom,they started today and I only had 2 LOR.

I actually had one school today tell me that they might not look at my application with only two letters. It was like a shot in the heart. They said they if they get a lot of applications this semester they wont have time to look over my application. It really sucks that my professor has technically got me REJECTED from a school.

I want to teach college! While teaching I want to continue doing research. After making a name for myself, I hope to try and become a Trial Consultant. Also, you never know when a law degree might pop up!

I have been emailing each program and asking if they will look at my application with only two letters. The programs keep telling me that they will still review my application with only 2 letters. Maybe my 3rd LOR will magically arrived by owl? aha I can only hope.

Just a few minutes ago we had the most people on at once..156 I do believe. Go us. We are all waiting for decisions. I feel like this forum makes the application process so much easier. I think the grad cafe needs to make some shirts!

I can't really find backups. This LOR is the person i have done most of my research, received a grant with, wrote my manuscript with, and will presenting my research with. It would look weird to cite her in everything and not have a letter from her.

I checked my email today and I received an email from a professor in one of my top 3 schools I want to attend. It starts off with Mr. ( insert my last name) and talking about how they are starting to review apps and how they will notify early Feb. They got my hopes up really quickly. I thought it could be a POI wanting to know more about my interests. I am happy I received the email since my 3rd LOR has not submitted yet. I hope I dont get anymore false alarms though. I hope the next e-mail is them accepting me I know they meet on the 11th for a meeting. I hope I receive some emails next week! Has anyone else been duped by a mass email?

I guess since im not quailified for any of the top programs, i didnt search that way. I used my lit review and googling to find programs that researched exactly what I wanted to study.

I have contacted both of the schools with Dec 15 deadlines. They both said they will look at my app with 2 letters. I have been in touch with one school for months now. My POI knows my struggle. Also, the graduate director of the schools said he understands my situation but said that my last letter could show strenghts that are not in the rest of my app. Luckily, my SOP was talking about the work I did with the missing LOR. I hope that helps. Oh well. One of the schools starts to look on the 11th, so I guess we will see.

I think it's weird that you just want to apply to the top programs and not just find programs that fit well with your interests.

I am pretty pissed at my 3rd LOR bc I am working with his this semester to get my poster presentation and everything ready. It's going to be awkward. lol

What about...running around campus yelling at everyone " I got accepted!! OMG I got Accepted!!"

Does anyone know if adcomms will still look at my app if I have 2/3 letters in? One of my LORs still has not been sent in. It's making me go crazy. I had to contact 2 Dec. 15 schools to ask if they will still look over my apps. I dont wanna do that to the 7 other schools. Has anyone been accepted with just 2 letters?

Hahha I agree with drinking. Is it bad that I might have tears of joy if I get accepted to a PhD program? If i get accepted to a masters program I will be happy, but not as happy if I am accepted to a PhD. Ahh i cant wait to start hearing back. I took it twice and ended up with a 1100. I am average and I am hoping that programs accepted me based on Fit and not because of a score. I ended up hating the GRE and what it stands for. The adcoms base you off a number and not the work you have done. I have received a grant, wrote a manuscript and will present research this march. They might not even look at my app bc my GRE is too low.

Sometimes I hope I get in a certain school because of the sports teams around. It would be nice to get into Kentucky because they have a top ranked mens basketball. FIU is in Miami, they have a NFL team there in miami. University of florida has a top ranked college football team. Just things I think about as I sit and wait. And...im still waiting on my last LOR for my Dec 15 deadline..ahhh But anyways, does anyone else think about sports when hoping to get into schools?

I am applying to 2 legal psychology, 1 experimental with law and psychology minor, 1 clinical with psychology and law concentration ( which I have no chance of acceptance) and 3 social psychology programs. Then I am also applying to 3 masters in criminology

I had two schools application due on dec 15. I still have one LOR that has not been submitted to any of the 10 schools that I am applying to. Luckily, one school says they are waiting to the new year to start looking at the applications. But, I do not know about the other school. The results page is showing that some psychology depts are contacting students. I have already emailed the prof on Dec. 15 when the apps were due. This is my TOP LOR. I have done all my research, grant writing, and data college with this prof. I do not know what to do. I do not want this prof to hurt my chances. AHHHH!!

AHHHH same here! I am checking my email hoping that the prof will update her letters. But NOPE!
