Google hires lots of Analytic Linguists (not necessarily computational linguistics).

Great, this means you are not fake, still though, it does NOT mean you can blame everyone for being fake just because they do not screenshot their emails to prove you something.

The paranoia is real.

Who, on what mindset goes out of their way to make other people miserable? It just makes no sense.

I think so. I got admitted to 5 schools so far and none of them has shared information on funding yet.

I think Learning Sciences sent it already. I got my invitation couple weeks ago. I’m not sure about LS+CS and HDSP programs though.

Yet again, you almost never see a candidate admitted to a top 10 school with ≈ 3.5 GPA and ≈155 GRE.
-
No shade but it might well be because of all those people who applied to +20 schools with +3.9 GPA and +165 GRE Scores. That's why we see some people getting accepted into +10 schools while others with more modest scores not being able to even be waitlisted. It's just a sad system.

I don't know if they sound funny or snobby.

Has anyone reached out to any professors at Brandeis? They specifically mention on their FAQ page that they DO NOT encourage candidates to contact professors before getting admitted to the program. That sounds very weird to me.
-
Some people started posting their results from Standford! Good luck to you all!

I applied to Brandeis but already I am settling up for a program I got admitted to, so most likely will not even accept their offer if admitted. Good luck to those who get to study there though!

I believe reaching out to them to ask if they can modify your application and put this additional request would be wiser since for the new MA application, you'll need new recommendation letters, have to pay the application fee and write a new SOP etc. Just call them and ask if it's possible.

I have pretty similar scores to you but honestly, from my own perspective, I didn’t think I’d stand a chance in any of those schools. I checked the results from previous years, I analyzed the GRE/GPA of the accepted people, and unfortunately I did not see scores like mine (and sadly yours) that got admitted. It might be a different scenario if you’re applying to masters programs but for PhDs, these are the top schools in the nation, hence they require top scores and GPA.

Does anyone have any idea/information about the interviews of Learning Sciences PhD program at Northwestern University? I will be interviewing in 3 weeks, I really would like to go all prepared.
-
I mean concerning the application fees that average around $70, it makes more than $1500 to only apply to that many schools. As an international student, that is more than the whole salary of a person in Turkey. LOL.

I just got accepted to Loyola University Chicago - Cultural and Educational Policy Studies PhD program the day after my interview. 5th acceptance already! I am an international student so I was really unsure about all this process. I believe that as long as you find a good fit in certain school, the rest will not have huge impact on the decision. Fingers crossed for all of us!

I believe it would be easier to check either one of these topics since they have pages of information about Harvard. Or simply search it in the results page?https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=harvard+education&t=a&o=&pp=25

I was actually told by couple of DGSs themselves that this is one of the parts they look for. Even though you don’t have to write about it for paragraphs long, I think it’s necessary to mention why you want to go for a PhD at first, then you can talk about why that specific program and why those certain faculty.
