To the person who just posted about being waitlisted from DePaul, may I ask if you received an email from them or you reached out to the department to inquire about your application status?

    Thanks!

Hey! I received an email from the program director about being placed on the waitlist. They had over 80 applications and will only be accepting 3 students (per the email).

So all acceptances and interviews have gone out already? I know a few people who got rejected, but I haven't heard anything one way or another about my application there

I do not know if all acceptances have gone out yet, but the recruitment day was last Friday. I know my POI contacted me about acceptance (I.S.) with a formal letter to come today or Monday.

  3. Here are so updates I've heard so far/any helpful information I can provide!

Rice University-- Waitlisted (POIs no funding at this time) notifications are out

Texas A&M-- Acceptances have gone out, interview/recruitment weekend 2/5

University of Connecticut-- preliminary interviews, offers could go out in next week or two

Wright State University -- offers could go out in next 3 weeks, following up with phone interview for selected candidates

    IUPUI -- acceptances/offers going out now/have gone out, interview/recruitment day 2/3

Portland State University -- Preliminary interviews, offers will go out in February BEFORE recruitment weekend (in March)

Ohio University: Offers out, recruitment weekend 2/19

This is what has been relayed to me, but if you have anything to add or additional information on other programs, share with the group! :)

First acceptance today!  I'm almost 10 years out of undergrad and I've been so nervous that I wouldn't be a quality candidate.  Accepted to University of New Haven.  No fellowship info just yet but I just wanted to post here so I could update my signature :D

YES!! We need to get celebrating!! It is time for this thread to get PUMPED. Start bragging, y'all!! Let us know what interviews and acceptances you are getting :) Shout-out to @SCIOPsychand @potentialOB who have BOTH been given an offer (with more to come, I am SURE).

I received GRFP last year. For the references section, I used size 10 Times New Roman Font and truncated citations (First Author et al. (YEAR) Journal). I put a space between each citation, as opposed to one on each line. Not sure if the rules changed this year, but I had no issues with this format last year.

When did you hear back? Was it right when they said, or before?

Hi Everyone! New here and this is my first time posting on the thread.

I was wondering what you all think about the "virtual visit days" coming up and if anyone knows what to expect. I have been invited to a virtual visit day in Feb. and this is my first application cycle, so I'm not entirely sure what a visit day, or virtual visit day, will consist of. My program also hasn't specified the timing, only the date, is it usually an all-day event? And if so, do you think it will be an all-day event considering the new virtual format? Thanks!

    These are good questions!

I know I have one virtual visit day that is 3-8 with a clear schedule. We are talking to graduate students and 3 different professors. The other one I have is listed as all day, but no schedule yet. I have no experience with these either, so I plan on being prepared with their most recent published research/their research interests, and my elevator pitches on things on my CV. ALSO make sure you are asking them questions YOU need to know to make a decision, too. They're selecting you, but they also want to recruit you so you ultimately select them.

But based on some things I have listened to or read, I imagine even an all day recruitment event will be interviews throughout the day with breaks from zoom built in. But I don't know for sure. Each school seems to be going about this process differently.

Does anyone have any tips for partner interviews? I have had really bad experiences with them in the past and I am really nervous.

Sorry to hear that ? On the bright side, you still have interviews and several schools you haven't heard from! Was Rice high on your list? Also- see you at IUPUI visit day! Who's your POI for IUPUI?

It was, but you are right! Some of my top schools are still in the running/I've moved forward in the process on those schools. And that is so exciting!! We will have to DM each other so we can talk through the nerves! That will be my first interview day, so I am feeling the pressure. My POI is P.S.! :) What about you?

Hi. I have read a few posts regarding preliminary interview. It seems like this year many programs are conducting it. There is no update on my applications so far but I was just wondering what type of questions do they ask during such interview.

I've been asked about (1) my research interests (broadly and more specifically) (2) why I want a Ph.D./My future career goals (3) how I face adversity or stress (4) what about the professors research interests me (5) A research project that I've been part of that excited me (6) what part of graduate school I am most excited and most nervous for (7) what experience do I have at each part of the research process (8) my past research experience overall (9) and if I have teaching experience.

This is from a few interviews, but I feel like I've seen a few repeats (especially around past research experience and future goals) from all of them.

Me and a lot of my friends who applied to social psychology PhD programs are all so stressed! It’s so hard waiting, not knowing whether or not the next time we open our email if it will be a request for interviews or a rejection. Has anyone here heard back from the following schools?

UC Irvine, UC Riverside, CU Boulder, University of Denver, CUNY, Stony Brook University, University of Delaware, UMASS Amherst, Washington State @ St. Louis, or Rutgers.

I've heard back about a preliminary interview from Denver, but nothing about the official Interview weekend taking place around Feb 19th, yet. I had a preliminary interview last week.

Bumping this thread... has anyone else heard back from programs about interviews? Wondering when Dec. 1 programs will start contacting people.

Hope everyone is staying safe over the holidays ?

I've heard back from Ohio University (IO) and the University of Denver (social) about preliminary interviews for the week of January 4-8. No official interview weekend invites yet.

Awesome- I've also heard that we should be hearing back from Bowling Green in middle/end of January. @KB io psyched- not sure if you're applying there. Of course, if it's the waitlist, it could be April 15th ? Did anyone apply to any fellowships? I didn't the first time around because I didn't even know about them. I applied to the NSF GRFP in Oct. and finished up the Ford Foundation application today.

I applied to NSF GRFP but not the Ford Foundation. I didn't know about them last year, either. Hoping for a better application outcome this year. So anxious ?

I am surprised to see there has not been much of a thread for IO considering it is extremely relevant. I applied last semester and now attending an IO program, so if either of you would like help or advice please let me know.

How many schools did you apply to? Any advice? I am worried during COVID that I should apply to more schools than normal.
