  1. Do you know which scholarship it is? I would be surprised if it was a tri-council (SSHRC, NSERC, or CIHR) because those decisions usually aren't released until April 1, so I think it must be a different kind of scholarship. Scholarships are great though, it still might help!
  2. NO and it's killing me too My POI (not SF tho) said late February/early March so I/we might still have a week to wait, but I hope it's not that long. My nerves are completely fried. Edit: someone was accepted last week in the CD stream, but I think the offers are going out quite variably so I'm not panicked yet. My POI did tell me that he'd let me know either way (i.e., rejected or accepted)
  3. Not to mention that it disadvantages people who don't have the money or time to study for the GRE more than once. Even doing it once, and applying for one cycle, is a huge strain on financial resources. If psychology is serious about valuing diversity in their grad programs and beyond, they need to address this system. I'm sorry it's not working out this cycle I also have a Master's degree in experimental psych and my quant GRE score was terrible. I'm 1000000% sure it impacted my interview offers this cycle. I just didn't have the time to study for it all over again. Not to mention I aced the three grad-level stats courses I was in, which you'd think would be more important. I'm not bitter. Not at all. ?
  4. I checked the results page and no one has posted about either of those programs this year. From past years, some people didn't hear that they were accepted until early March. You can always reach out to the graduate program coordinator for both schools and ask for an update!
  5. A little off topic, but you will love the UAlberta campus. It's gorgeous!
  6. Just saw that someone posted about being rejected from York yesterday in the results section. If that person sees this, can you tell me if you attended the open house last week? They were very vague about when offers will go out after the open house and the waiting is killing me.
  7. Yes! My husband is also applying for PhDs, although in a different field. We applied to the same schools or schools that were close to each other. By some frigging miracle, it looks like it might work out for us. He got accepted to the school I *just* interviewed at.
  8. I am! I'll DM you! If anyone else is going feel free to DM me
  9. It should be about a week or maybe two. I went to the open house a few years ago for my experimental psych degree. I heard back about being admitted exactly a week after the open house. However, this was for the experimental program, not clinical, so it might take longer for clinical although I imagine it won't be too much longer.
  10. I'm in the same boat as you!!! I want this one to work out so badly but there's so much pressure because it's the only one...
  11. You could always contact the program administrators for these programs to see if you are waitlisted. I looked at the results page for some of the schools you mentioned to see what happened in previous years and it looks like it's all over the place in terms of when people were rejected/accepted. I'd say there's still room for some cautious hope, but it doesn't hurt to email the administrators to see if you can get some hard answers. From what I've read on the forum, most people learn that they are waitlisted by directly contacting the program and don't receive an official notification. Best of luck to you, hopefully you get some good news!
  12. Okay, what?!?!?!?!?!?! That is absolute garbage, especially the part I bolded. I'm so, so sorry that happened to you. God, I wouldn't want to go to a place that jerked me around like that. Good riddance. What a horrible experience.
  13. Sorry you received disappointing news ❤️ But based on your signature, you have 8 other chances, I hope something goes well for you!
  14. As other have said, I don't think many places are accepting applications to begin in Fall 2020. Your best chance may be to look at schools that offer an admission to begin in January 2021. The only one I know of is the University of Calgary's experimental program: https://psyc.ucalgary.ca/graduate-program/psychology-graduate-program/application-information. Unfortunately, they do require GRE scores and their minimum IELTS score is 7.5. Best of luck.
  15. Not sure. I imagine they'll have to go out soon since the open house is next week, though.
  16. Honestly, the thing about asking people on here if your GRE scores are good enough is that literally no one can say anything for sure. We're not on any admissions committees. We can't see your application in its entirety. My impression is that schools (in Canada, at least) are starting to move away from using the GRE as any kind of be all, end all, but some schools probably really care. Anectodally, I know plenty of people in clinical psych programs who did poorly on the quantitative section. One of the smartest people I know who is incredibly productive and successful now scored at the 40th percentile. I know someone in a highly rated program whose quantitative score was at the 24th percentile. Her POI doesn't care about GRE scores and cared much more about her research experience, grades, and letters of recommendation. ^ Totally agree with everything said here!
  17. I have a fear that because I am a married woman in my late 20s, it may be assumed that I want children soon and that that will make me a less attractive candidate. I'm 100000% not saying that folks with kids or those who want them are less attractive/capable, but I've heard soooo many stories about women being discriminated against in the workforce because they plan to have children or are pregnant, etc. Anyone have any thoughts about this? Is this a stupid thing to worry about? Has anyone received any questions related to family planning/relationships during their interviews? I'm guessing they're wildly inappropriate if not outright illegal, right? (Relatedly, I actually don't want children and don't plan on having them ever. But I also believe that is no one's business except for mine and my husband's.)
  18. From my understanding, most official rejections don't come until March or April, when the spots are filled. Not hearing anything from anyone at this point doesn't necessarily mean you're rejected *yet*, but unfortunately you likely weren't a first pick and it's unlikely, although definitely possible, that you will get an interview. Interview invites will come by email or phone, not through the application portal. Not sure if all York invites have gone out. I heard from my POI earlier this week and I was invited to the Open House. But I think profs are on their own timelines so it's possible you'll still hear from yours. Don't know about UTSC or Ryerson as I didn't apply to either, but maybe others know. Edited to add: From the results page, it looks like people received interview invites for Ryerson starting on January 8 and as late as January 24. It looks like the in-person interview day is February 10.
  19. I just got an email from them saying something similar. I think they just send it to anyone who applied for grad programs there ?
  20. School: York University Type: Clinical Psychology, MA Date of invite: 1/29 Type of invite: Open House Invitation - invited by my POI over the phone Interview date(s): February 14th
  21. York Update: I got invited to the Open House, it takes place on February 14th. I received the invite directly from my POI. If anyone else is going, send me a message!
  22. Hey guys, I just got an email from my POI at York. We're going to chat on the phone today or tomorrow!
  23. Does anyone have a recommended format to follow when emailing the program director/admin about this topic? I'm going to overthink this a lot. If someone has an email they send and just wanted to PM me, I would be super grateful!
