  1. Congrats! I'm still waiting on news (though, now I'm thinking it might be bad news). Did you receive an email and/or update on your application portal?
  2. I also received this email! However, I haven’t received an invitation to interview or any other communication. Guess I’ll just try my best to be patient for the next couple of weeks!
  3. I applied to the Curriculum and Instruction program. No new news or interview offer, just patiently waiting!
  4. Thanks for the update! Glad to hear you had a really positive interview experience. I'll try to keep being patient and not check my application portal every single day!
  5. @Teacher 2021 Inquiring minds want to know Did you have your interview? And did you learn any new information? With one week to go until we're officially 6 weeks past the application deadline, I'm getting very anxious!
  6. Congrats on the interview and good luck! I'd love to hear if they give you an update on when they will be making/releasing their decisions.
  7. Hi! Did you learn any new information from your meeting with the faculty member?
  8. That would be great! I agree, it'd be nice to hear from someone else who went through the process. I met with a faculty member before the application was due, they didn't mention interviews but I definitely should have asked!
  9. Hi! I also applied for the Ed.D online program on 1/15. The website says decisions will be made within 6 weeks of the application deadline, so I'm trying to be patient until then. I don't think that this program does admissions interviews, but I'm not entirely positive about that. Good luck!
  10. Hi! I'm not sure about how close an interest has to be to yours, but from my own application process, I've had more positive communications and acceptances to programs with whom my interests closely align with the professor(s) I indicated. I also had kind of a niche research interest within the realm of education. One thing that I did to identify professors/programs is search for peer-reviewed articles on my research interest, look at the author(s) of the article and then google that author to see if they are currently a professor in any education PhD programs.
  11. Congratulations on your acceptance! And, no worries re: the bearer of bad news, I was already working off that assumption. I just wish they would go ahead and send out the rejections. I suspect schools that draw the process out might have an internal waiting list and are waiting for admitted students to accept their offers. A few people posted acceptances to Berkeley on the results page in early February, but no one has posted any rejections yet.
  12. I applied to urban schooling PhD and haven't heard anything yet. While I'm sure I'm waiting on a rejection (someone posted an acceptance on the results page a couple of weeks ago), I wish they'd let us know!
  13. Did your PI reach out to you about the waitlist or did you get an email from the admissions director? I'm trying to decide whether I should reach out to my PI or not; I haven't communicated with them since submitting my application so I am not sure if it'll seem too out of the blue. And yes, I do recognize that I'm probably way overthinking this haha
  14. That's nice that your PI updates you! I've been told that I'll hear no later than April 8th, which is honestly surprising to me since the deadline for admitted students to accept is April 15th. I emailed the Director of admissions to confirm my interest, but i wonder if it's worth reaching back out to my PI as well? I don't want to over-communicate, but I'd love more information and to make my interest known.
  15. Saw this thread for a few other disciplines and thought I'd start one here. Anyone else waitlisted? How are you handling the waiting game? I'm waitlisted at my top choice and am trying hard not to get my hopes up!
  16. As suspected (when I discovered my one application had turned into two), I was not accepted into the Ed Policy PhD, but was offered admissions into the Masters in Ed Policy program with $17k scholarship.
  17. Thanks for sharing! I figured it was something like that, but guess I'll just have to wait and see for sure. On most applications, I selected that I would not be interested in being considered for masters programs, but I honestly cannot remember for sure what I put on the TC app and of course, I didn't save a copy.
  18. I applied to the Ed Policy PhD and haven't heard anything yet HOWEVER, I just logged into my portal (obsessively checking for any signs of communication at this point) and noticed that it looks like I now have TWO applications submitted. The second says it was started and submitted today (2/23). I'm wondering if this is a sign of some kind of movement being made? Perhaps a recommendation to a masters program instead? Though, I don't think I indicated I would be interested in that because I already have a masters degree. Has this happened to anyone else?? Edit: Just an observation that the reference number for the two applications is the same
  19. Has anyone heard back from any programs within UCLA GSEIS? I applied to the Urban Schooling PhD but haven't heard anything about interviews or decisions.
  20. I saw someone posted an acceptance to UC Berkeley on the results page. Has anyone else heard from Berkeley? Would love to know if the communication was via portal, POI, or general email from department?
  21. I applied, too! I thought it seemed as though they didn't have interviews, as the doctoral admissions FAQ states: The program does not schedule interviews for prospective graduate students before admissions decisions are made. Admitted students will be invited for campus visits in the spring. I applied to the Education Policy concentration. Anyone else?
  22. I'm sorry to hear that. I did not have an interview, but I had met with the admissions director previously and had emailed with my POI a few times. Best of luck with any of your other applications!
  23. Yes! I received an email yesterday that I was placed on the waitlist. No clue what that really means and I have a lot of questions about it (e.g., how long is the waitlist? did they already admit more people than they have funding for knowing some people will accept elsewhere?). So, looks like my waiting has been extended until April. Did you hear back?!
  24. Received an email that I was placed on the waitlist for USC's Urban Education Policy program. Slightly bummed but also slightly encouraged that it was not a straight up no? Crossing my fingers that some people who get admitted accept offers elsewhere!
  25. Thanks for the information! It's a little relieving to know they were anticipating making decisions this week and that there (probably) aren't acceptances out there that we haven't heard about. From what I can gather (from the results board and a current student), it seems like they might interview some students and not others; it's completely up to the faculty. Best of luck to you!
