Was Notre Dame 10 days ago? That seems like ND's timeline. -

Thanks for this advice. I think I just needed someone to give me permission, honestly. -

This is exactly what I'm dealing with. I'm practically finished with the research, I just need to write the thing, but all I can think about is whether the fellowships will come through and Purdue's upcoming decision. -
2020 Applicants

Same question... I'm only waiting on one school. I'm almost sure it's a rejection, as I know someone who was accepted quite some time ago, but if, by some miracle, I was accepted, it would really throw a wrench in my decision. A good wrench... You're killing me Purdue. -
2020 Acceptances
StormChild replied to Rrandle101's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I'm not on a waitlist this round, but I think this is always the right answer. If you are 100% sure that you will not accept, there is no reason to wait. -
Striking "unfortunately" seems fair. The logic behind it removing it seems sound. I can say, I've never met a PhD who was offended by being called "Doctor," but the easiest way to settle this would be to look at the letter that you received from the Grad Director and reply to match their correspondence.

Dear Dr. (Graduate Studies Director), Thank you so much for considering me for your program. Unfortunately, I have already accepted an offer from another school, and will, therefore, forego the interview. I wanted to let you know as soon as possible so that you can make adjustments. Again, thank you so much for your consideration. Best, BlueBerryMuffin

"Rejections come out first." How many times have we heard this over the years? I'm wondering if this is even true anymore. I've been lucky to hear from several universities, but I'm losing my mind waiting on Purdue. They've accepted exactly two people that I know of (one from the boards and one from my cohort on the same day)… then just silence from the program. I think that they are my top choice, and they are the only program that I haven't heard from.

Comp/Rhet PhD Programs in the US
StormChild replied to Aneesha's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
If your interest is pedagogy and composition, I don't think you will find a better fit than Purdue. Some other programs to look at: IU-Bloomington, University of Oklahoma, UW-Madison, and Auburn. IU-Bloomington claims to have a 100% placement for Rhet/Comp students (into tenure-track positions) for the last 6 years.- 1 reply
