  1. Didn’t think I was going to get anything!! Super excited. School: SUNY Binghamton Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of invite: 1/15 Type of invite: Email from POI about first round interview Interview date(s): 1/19 or 1/20 DM for POI: Yes!!
  2. Just wanted to put it out there that this whole thing really sucks. Good to know that everyone else also feels like crap.
  3. Has anyone heard back from JA at UNC Chapel Hill? Or TC at Yale?
  4. Does anyone know if you can still get an interview invite without a preliminary interview invite?
  5. This just fucked my whole day up
  6. I too am feeling PANICKED. It's so weird that this is all finally coming to a head.
  7. I've narrowed my list to 6: Hofstra, Fordham, Yale, University of Maryland, Binghamton, and UNC Chapel Hill. Scary and also horrifying! I've emailed PI's at all of these and gotten at least some kind of affirmation that a cohort will be accepted (though some PIs have been saying they will be accepting "a" student, which....... yikes!) I'll update y'all on the process! I'm done with around half of the apps now.
  8. This is my first cycle and I'm absolutely winging it. Hopefully all goes well. It's reassuring to see that most everyone's in the same boat.
  9. So... do I retake the GRE or do I just not submit my scores? What is the best strategy? What's everyone thinking?
  10. Hofstra Clinical is waiving the Psych GRE requirement!
  11. Word, thank you for the response! Hopefully these also don't get cancelled...
  12. Hi all! I know the Psych Subject GRE has limited offerings as it is, but I was just browsing to see if any dates were set near where I live and it doesn't seem like there are any dates planned. I know the General GRE is doing at home testing, but because the subject tests are paper delivered I don't think these are offered at home. Some of the programs I planned on applying to do require the subject GRE. Do any of you know if it's going to be offered or if any current programs are waiving it?
  13. Hey! Thanks for the advice. Most of this isn't really based on status, it's just what I know that's around me! I know I should broaden geographically but I'm not 100% sure if I want to move across the country... then again a lot of the BDD-forward programs seem to be either on the West Coast or in Australia, so who knows!! It's definitely a confusing time, hopefully everything pans out. Definitely feel unprepared for the circumstances at hand, though!
  14. I am terrified for this admissions cycle. It is my first one. All of my research positions have been put on hold and I still need to retake the GRE. I still have one semester left of my bachelor's. I heard somewhere that this cycle would probably be especially bad because of funding but I really just have no idea. I hate the added uncertainty!
  15. Hey! Applying for the first time for Fall 2021, and I'm extremely stressed about it. Right now I'm working on retaking the GRE, but honestly with all of the pandemic stuff I feel like this season might be particularly brutal. Before I had to leave my undergrad institution for the semester, I was a research assistant at an OCRD clinic (mostly working on OCD and BDD projects) and a research assistant at a psychiatric hospital working on a schizophrenia project. Participant recruitment completely stopped for those, and I have no idea what's going to happen in the fall. I'm also supposed to complete my undergraduate thesis in the fall, which is focused on insight and reward in BDD. Right now, I plan on applying to all Clinical PhDs at Fordham, Hofstra, Queens College, UConn, Yale (lmao), Stony Brook, and then a handful of masters programs just as a back up. I'm still trying to find schools that have faculty who are interested in OCD/BDD, so my school list could def change. Here's hoping everything works out! No idea how to navigate any of this due to the pandemic so I'm just winging it.
  16. Hi! I'm looking to apply to either a Clinical Psych PhD (with a clinical neuropsychology focus) or a Cognitive Neuroscience PhD for the fall 2021 admission cycle. 3.81 undergraduate GPA, honors student, going to do a thesis in the fall that could be applicable to either of these topics, I just need to nail it down with my advisor. I'm planning on graduating in December 2020 with a BA in Psychology, minor in Neuroscience. I have research experience. Currently, I work at a clinic that specializes in OCD and other related disorders as a research assistant. Primarily, I help create presentations for the head doctor for conferences, but I also have a publication contribution that should be official later this year. I also lead two studies here, albeit they are slow moving. I'm also working on a PhD candidate's dissertation out at a prominent psychiatric hospital conducting clinical interviews and running neuropsychological tests. Prior to this, I worked on another dissertation examining non-suicidal self injury and risk-taking behaviors. I also plan to apply for research positions during the semester I have off before the program would start in the fall of 2021. For this summer, I have applied to do research through the SURF program that is offered at many universities. I know that it might be a long shot, but I'm really trying to fit in as much research experience during my undergraduate years as I can. I know that many prestigious programs won't admit without a substantial amount. Primarily, I want to examine the neural mechanisms within Autism, specifically facial recognition and emotional processing. I'm also intrigued by memory as a cognitive process, thought my interest in that area is much more broad.I took a clinical neuropsychology course where I studied anterograde amnesia in depth as part of a project, and I fell in love with the mystery surrounding the memory system. I feel like researching that area would be amazing, but I'm unsure of my career goals as a Cognitive Neuroscientist. I also do enjoy the research I do on OCD at the current clinic I'm at, and would be perfectly happy continuing to pursue that as well. I have taken the GRE. I got a 156 V, 147 Q (Yikes), and a 4.5 AW. I definitely plan on taking it again this summer, and I'll probably utilize some kind of prep service to maximize my quant, because I know it's not great. Right now, I'm thinking of applying to Yale, Fordham, Stony Brook, UConn, Columbia, Hofstra, Queens College, NYU (Cog Neuro), Boston University. If you have any school recommendations as well, please feel free to throw them my way. Do I have a chance with my current experience? Is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks for reading, let me know.
