There's currently a major leak in my apartment building that's just raining down through our stairs, if you want to know how my week is going.

I would do that too. Additionally, GradCafe or really another other forum (Reddit, PSR) will never be representative of the actual number of admits/waitlists. I also think some places might just have chosen very small cohorts this year due to pandemic budget constraints.

Truth be told, I am becoming less optimistic as the days pass by. Both the job market and the graduate school app cycle are a bloodbath this year, so there's no reliable "backup" plan to graduate school if you aren't already employed.

At this point I'm going with the flow and hoping for just one funded admission offer from any of the schools I applied to this cycle. I'm binging Teen Wolf and doing extra work on my master's thesis to distract myself from the admissions releases.

I think at least 6 is a good number, 12 would be my personal maximum. Past that, depending on how many schools you end up receiving an offer from, it gets overwhelming to choose the one admit offer you accept, I think.

Did anyone else on this forum end up hearing from Rice?

I submitted mine to the programs that allowed me to upload documents at this time through the application portal. Not sure if emailing them would make a difference.

Seems like Rice sent admissions decisions today, given the updates in GradCafe. Gonna assume a rejection for this one since I haven't gotten any email or portal change

IIRC the data from the last few years shows that, but I wonder if COVID delays that. I think last year was Jan 30th for a bunch of results uploaded to GradCafe.

Honestly I was hoping Rice would send something today. I don't expect Berkeley for another two weeks.

I wonder if it might be that it's more difficult for an international applicant to succeed with AP applications compared to a domestic student, especially given the job market and the immigration hurdles to work in the US (since AP would be most applicable in American universities) so instead they flock to CP/IR where they might have a language advantage/more worldwide employability?

I'm panicking because I finally got my fall transcript for my master's (Chinese academic calendar, yay!) but I'm not sure it can even be sent in at this point.

Me right now with Rice...I was expecting them to release admissions decisions this morning but I guess it's still early in the South.

I wonder if most schools send out emails to announce decisions, emails to check the application portal, or you just have to check the application portal with no warning. I've been religiously combing through my email and the app portals everyday ?.

Thank you for sharing this, as I think I and many others can suffer from impostor syndrome. Just a few words can help ease that.

I think early to mid February, but that's just speculation.
