  1. Hi everyone, I know that this time last year was VERY stressful for me, completing the applications & waiting to hear back from schools... It's funny how you think the applications are the hardest part until you finish them, then you realize it's the waiting to find out where you're going or if you're going that really gets you. Anyways, there were a few first & second year SLP students that answered questions for us last year & I know it meant the world to me, so I'd like to do the same for you this year. Feel free to message me any questions, I'll do my best to answer them
  2. Hii, I wanted to let everyone know that I got an offer from the waitlist at McGill yesterday & ive decided to accept! I emailed Vicki & declined my position at UofA, so if you’re on the waitlist you might get some good news!! I also removed myself from the waitlist at Dal & McMaster! congratulations to everyone & good luck to those of you who are still waiting !
  3. Hi I just got accepted off the waitlist at McGill & I am feeling really conflicted about where to go - can someone who has decided to go to McGill please send me a message - I have heard really conflicted about where I should go
  4. Does anyone know how the waitlist at Dal works? Or when we can expect to hear about movement?
  5. OMG thats a no... How does that even happen?! only a few people have heard for speech & I'm hoping since audiology is out including waitlist hopefully more speech ones will be out within the next few days!! I'm so anxious to hear back from Dal!!! Good luck
  6. HA so I tried, I called the phone number on the communications sciences & disorders page & the guy I spoke to was really sweet but he said that he didn't have access to the information, he didn't know if i got in, how many they sent out, or when they would be done. He said he had no access to anything like that so I just left it but maybe if you want to try calling ask if they can give you the number to someone who has access?
  7. Thank you so much for your input & I appreciate the offer about talking to your sister! I agree it's frustrating that they send out responses so late! I think I would really love the school - I'm mostly just worried the extra year of tuition wouldn't be worth it.
  8. Congrats to everyone on their acceptances thus far, I hope everyone has good news coming later this week!! I was just wondering if there was anyone on here who goes to Dal or knows anyone that goes to Dal that could answer some questions for me, even if you don't feel free to share your input. I recognize that Dal is an additional year because it doesn't require any prereqs. I'm really interested in going to Dal, something about the school & the city but I'm worried that I will be bored during the first year (if its similar to other schools prereqs) and I don't want to waste a years worth of tuition. I guess my question is, do you think the extra year is worth it to go to Dal?? Looking forward to hearing your opinions. Thanks!
  9. I know it was 27 last year, I'm not sure of the exact number this year but definitely around there.
  10. To be honest, myself and two of my good friends received waitlist emails from McGill today & our stats are completely different. I would try not to worry so much about who has what stats & just be patient & see what happens (easier said than done I know!). I think one thing McGill really emphasizes is research & thats the only thing that none of us had a lot of experience with... So maybe you have a better chance if you have lots of research experience? But for reference, one girl had no SLP experience, one girl had some with kids, and I had 300ish hours with various age groups. We all had pretty high GPAs (all got MMIs at Mac). Two of us are fluent in French. I'm just trying to say that there are so many little factors that they will value with different applications you will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out if you got in or not... I'm sure you will hear soon. Good luck! I hope you get some good news!
  11. Ya I asked how many people were waitlisted and how many people from the wait list usually get accepted and they said that they couldn't tell me
  12. Hey, I decided against UBC for those reasons too, it was just a lot of work to do the pre req for them because it wasn't offered at my school either & when I realized that they preferred students from BC I just kind of decided it was a lot of work to apply there when I had less of a chance than I do at other schools.
  13. Have many of you already completed the Indigenous course requirement? Based on the information on their website it says that we have until August of our first admission year to complete the course so I was waiting to see if I got accepted before completing it. But I'm concerned now that I see Vicki said that you need it to have a strong application...
  14. My last name starts with S so I dont think that it's alphabetical, but I think they will send more out later
  15. Oh ya I am a total basket case... I cry all the time and it's basically all I think about... It's a really hard time for everyone and I think waiting is definitely the worst part because there is just so much unknown. especially with everything else going on with covid... but all we can do is our best until we know whats going on! Goodluck.
