  1. All good, dude that's amazing that you got in!!! I'm so happy for you!!! POI's initials are DA, for anyone who wants to know
  2. Heard back from UIUC with a rejection today, which I expected and am okay with. Hope you all are doing okay and wishing ya'll so so much luck, it's hard out this year ❤️
  3. is it me or did they change the name of this forum "clinical psychology forum"? Feeling the erasure of social/dev/IO psych ?
  4. Their Social-Personality program... although the email address that I used is for all the psychology department, and I wasn't specific
  5. I emailed UC Irvine, and they said that the first round of admissions offers have been made, and they hope to make decisions by late March/early April.
  6. Literally was just looking at that, and I haven't gotten anything either Anyone hear from U Florida, UC Davis, UIllinois Urbana-Champaign, and/or UMass Amherst? Wishing everyone all the luck in the world, and hope you all get into programs!!! ❤️
  7. I applied to UC Irvine, CUNY, and UMass Amherst, and nothing from any of those yet
  8. Hey, congrats on the interviews, that's amazing!!!! I'm on the same boat, I got 1 interview and I'm feeling like that might be it too... Then I looked for assurance from my friends in PhD programs, and honestly, I had a few friends have this drag on until April, and got off the waitlist then, 2 of them even only got interviews in February. It sucks thinking that it'll be months for decisions, but well... I'm doing plenty of mindfulness related things and self care as suggested to me by them. It's been helping a lot, thankfully ?
  9. I assume so too. Really think we're either gonna hear back tomorrow or in January. Also, just saw that Van Bavel posted this thread on twitter, seems like programs are really competitive this year: https://twitter.com/jayvanbavel/status/1334558142240321544?s=21
  10. Hi everyone, I'm anxious too. I feel like I'm checking my email all the time and it feels obsessive. ? How are ya'll doing/managing? I got an informal interview already, which feels great, but it feels weird having only heard from 1 and not the rest... Wishing everyone all the luck in the world!!!!! ❤️ (also shoutout to aurorma for starting this thread!!!)
  11. Thanks for starting this thread! Any help at all I do deeply appreciate, and starting this has helped me so far gain some perspective. I am applying this year as well. I'm studying to take the GRE at the end of the month (and have been doing so for 2 months now). I graduated in 2018 with a 3.4 GPA, this is while working 2 research labs in both psych (intervention study) and public health. I left to study in another country in another language and completed a master's in a year, but because of my difficulties there my grades aren't where I want them (it's around a little less than a 3.0 in their scaling system), but I did write my thesis in another language and I did really well on that. Knowing how bad I've been historically with standardized tests, my latest practice tests are giving me 160Quant, 150Verbal. Now I work on a research team doing more intervention work, but relatively unrelated to my topics of interest. Lots of my research experience has been different in topics, but have tended on similar themes (heavily involved in data collection). I know I'm broadly interested in morality, persuasion, intergroup conflict, political behavior (voting, collective action, political participation), and impact of macro level factors on individuals. I also want to put these things to action, sensitively. I also think a lot about the impact of colonialism, climate change, inequality, the current pandemic, mass media, misinformation, and masculinity on individuals, and how we treat each other. I've been interested in UMass Amherst, UCIrvine, UIllinois Urbana-Champaign, Clark has a cool department, and I'm lucky I've found plenty of programs with at least 2 professors I like. Questions to you all: 1) Should I even go ahead and include my GRE scores? I mean all of my list are making the GRE optional or even fully suggest not to send. I'm worried about them looking down on my master's degree, when I know it's not an accurate representation of me as a student. And I don't have any publications or conference presentations, all I have really are my research experiences. 2) Does anyone have any other schools I should consider? 3) Are my interests too narrow? I mean I have more of a clear direction I see and I even already have research ideas in mind with certain professors, but I'm worried I'm not being broad enough. Thanks everyone!
