  1. Hey! Just thought I would reach out and share my experience as someone who also lives in Vancouver - I'm starting my MSW in the Foundation program at the University of Calgary in May. They changed the program this year to online/blended so I can keep living/working in Vancouver (including practicums) and there's an in-person residency in Calgary in the summer for 1 week every year to get together with all the students in the program. I believe they will be offering their Foundation program online/blended going forward so it could be a good option to look into for Spring 2024 admission application opens in August I believe!
  2. Could someone post a screenshot of what the 'invited' status looks like? Thank you
  3. Hey I also got accepted to Calgary's clinical stream! Feel free to DM me
  4. Is anyone else struggling waiting to hear back from UofT regular track 😭
  5. I wonder if what they meant was that all decisions will be communicated by mid-April? Or at least I hope so lol. Mid-April just seems too brutal considering they were on-time releasing the advanced standing decisions
  6. I received my admissions offer for the University of Calgary's Foundation clinical social work program today (Spring start) The graduate advisor emailed me to let me know the program has changed since I applied and I now have the option to do the program fully remote if I would like! Or I can do the in-person program in Calgary!
  7. Hi all, I reached out to an admissions coordinator at UofT admissions yesterday regarding uploading an official transcript for my MSW application (I only uploaded an unofficial one during my application and was unsure if I needed to upload more documentation). Here is her response: "I am responding to your message and hope you are well. Submitting an updated unofficial transcript is entirely optional. If you wish to do so please upload it directly onto the application portal, under the document titled updated transcript. Thank you for your interest in our programs." Thank you for your interest!! This felt like a soft rejection ? Please someone tell me I'm being paranoid!
  8. That's awesome, congrats on finishing the app to Toronto! I didn't know Calgary had a Jan 2024 admit term for Foundation students, I applied for May 2023 entry but to be honest it feels a little too soon haha. I also applied to Foundation MSW programs. The process to apply to Calgary was slightly better than UofT because they required fewer references but their personal statement was more free form than Toronto's which I struggled with. I'm also considering applying to UBC-O (Foundation clinical) and then a private counselling program (CityU).
  9. I've been wondering the same thing! The schools I applied to didn't extend their deadlines (uofT and calgary) but I've noticed there is a lot less activity on this thread than there was for the MSW 2022 thread this time last year
  10. Has anyone seen UofT's MSW (two-year) application portal open up yet? I haven't seen any relevant information for 2023 applications posted on their website yet!
  11. Decisions for UVic counselling psych are updated on the portal, at least it was for me today. Unfortunately I was not admitted
  12. I log onto grad cafe results page/forum every day like that song "hello darkness my old friend" waiting for someone to post admissions decisions for the school I applied to lmao
  13. Question for the group: how likely do we think it is that these programs contact our referees or LOR writers? I ask because I applied to UVic back in November and there is no interview for this program and it just seems so weird to me that they would extend offers without doing any sort of background check. Does anyone have similar experiences with this, where they applied and were made an offer without anyone contacting their referees?
  14. I applied to the MA in Counselling Psych (project-based) at UVic and still waiting to hear back. I know this program doesn't have an interview component but it feels so weird to me that I could wait 4 months for an admission decision and the department would have absolutely no contact at all with me during that time even when considering my application. I'm curious to hear if this has been other's experience (like not hearing anything then suddenly getting an acceptance) or if you are aware that a grad program contacted your references as an indicator they were considering your application? Thanks in advance for your insight everyone
  15. Yes, same here! I've accepted it's okay to keep refreshing my portal because I know the checking tendencies will go away once I actually get a decision one way or the other - keep going, soon this will be over!!
  16. Did you mean for the Msc in Counselling Psych? I know last year they got back to folks in the first/second week of Feb with offers
  17. Hey I also applied to UVic! Although I did my undergrad at UBC. Do you want to DM me to chat about the pre-reqs? so nice to finally meet another person who applied to UVic lol
  18. I didn't apply to UBC this year (applied to UVic) although I'm considering applying next year if I'm not successful this cycle. I did my undergrad at UBC and I know some of the faculty in the CNPS department if you have any questions perhaps I can help feel free to DM
  19. I did my undergrad at UBC actually but yes UVic is super particular about their pre-reqs - I had to go back after I graduated to take some additional classes and even then I didn't complete all the pre-reqs because one of them isn't really offered in the Lower Mainland (Group Processes) but I contacted the department and they said they understand because it's hard to find outside of the island. So yes I completely understand when people say the pre-reqs are demanding!
  20. I applied to the MA in Counselling Psychology at UVic and there is no interview process for that program and even then they take until early March to get back to applicants - it seems most Canadian masters in counselling programs take several months to get back to applicants with the exception of a few programs (like Calgary for example). Waiting sucks, I know!
  21. I'm so confused as to why anyone would want to lie about their results - it's not fair to anyone
