  1. Actually, on second blush, it wasn’t automated. It was templated, so less personal but not from a system. Sorry for the confusion. I literally saw the words acceptance and freaked out. Hahaha.
  2. Haha! Yes. It could have come via carrier pigeon and I'd still be thrilled. USF is my top choice and I didn't expect to get an interview, let alone an acceptance. ?
  3. I just received an acceptance to USF's Community and Family Health PhD program! It was via email and seemed automated (vs. personalized) and was not from my POI.
  4. congrats!! Things really seem to be moving for us now!
  5. Thanks MarieE! I do sort of see this thread as a place for the above though too. Any thoughts on what the difference between the two might be? Game to post in both places!
  6. I can't be 100% sure but I don't think so. The email indicated that my application made it past an initial review and has moved on to the secondary phase (i.e. interview). That makes me feel like there's a filtering process at play. What I don't know is if these invites are being sent on a rolling basis or not, which could mean that more invites are coming!
  7. Just got offered an interview for Johns Hopkins' PhD program in Population, Family and Reproductive Health. Interview week is from Feb 8 - Feb 12th via Zoom (of course).
  8. Sorry forgot to quote you! Still learning the platform.. hehe Thank you! I applied to the PhD program in Community and Family Health.
  9. Thank you! I applied to the PhD program in Community and Family Health.
  10. I haven't had this scenario arise just yet (although of course it will) but I will say that what has helped me cope thus far is counting all of my blessings (especially during a global pandemic!) and really digging into the worst case scenario and facing it head-on. Say I don't get in, what's the worst that will happen to me? Will it kill, maim, or otherwise ruin me in some irreparable way? Nope. Haha. Worst case is that I get into Nowhere U., work a public health gig, and re-apply towards the end of the year. I think when we look realistically at the worst possible outcome, we'll realize that in a world where people are lining up at food banks, where kids are terrified to go to school, and millions face evictions (in the US), our problems and our worries aren't so bad. ? We got this!
  11. I feel you. haha. I'm starting to get anxious now that January is practically upon us. I've had one interview thus far but there's no guarantee that will beget more interviews from other places or that I'll get in anywhere at all. With that said, worrying about applications has been a real treat compared to the worry of the pandemic raging and the not-so-great vaccine roll out. So yeah...no advice other than that we should cherish this being our main worry, given all that's happening in the world.
  12. Hi everyone! Just joined GradCafe. Happy to have a community to stress about applications with. My husband can only take so much angst. haha. I applied to just 5 places (4 squarely in public health and one in policy where I plan to focus on MCH) and have had one interview a few weeks back (USF). I'm hopeful to hear something from USF in the next week or two but with the pandemic and holiday break, who knows? This process is both maddening and super exciting.
