  1. oh no! do you have any other offers? wishing you the best..
  2. Did you accept? or did you decide on other program?
  3. I did my masters in columbia, I also wanted to experience the big apple. It just depends on what you are looking for. Is it going to be funded? Living in NYC is very expensive and fast paced. Is there opportunities? Yes. I had God's providence when I attended columbia because my parents helped me financially to pay my tuition and i worked part times as a pharmacist to pay my rent. I met good friends there and enjoyed the social aspect. Do i regret it -No, did i enjoy living in NYC at the time yes! At the end of the day it is up to you, I will suggest you look at long term goal rather than short term....
  4. I got accepted too for the phD-epidemiology program in Dallas. Yes I have been wondering about funding as well. I will accept because it is where i live and with children, it just makes sense. I just don't know who to talk to about funding
  5. I am not an expert but try and hang in there, it may be challenging now but I would suggest you finish up. You have already put in so much work , I don't believe quitting is the best way to go. Go for counseling if you can, try and relax, take a deep breath. You got in for a purpose, don't quit now!
  6. I know, I was wondering that too, but someone from last year wrote that interviews are conducted for PhD Epi in columbia so i am assuming there will be interviews...
  7. not heard from columbia Epi yet... still waiting . The last email I got said there will be interviews conducted for some applicants but not all that applied and I should hear around March 5th...
  8. as far as i Know it is a big program and attached to a medical center. It does seem you have to get your own funding and the tuition is not expensive at least that was what i got from the information sessions i attended. I think you should just ask them directly about the funding situation, scholarships, Teaching assistantships opportunities etc ... did you have an interview prior to the offer? These are valid questions you should have asked them if you had an interview... I believe UT is a big enough program for anyone that wants to go to academia. A professor of mine went to UT austin for his phd in pharmacogenomics. I think it is all just depends on what you really want to do and talking to your assigned advisor to help steer you in that direction... I will suggest talking to someone there directly or ask to be in contact with a current/former student to see. That is what i plan to do after I decide. Best!
  9. Anyone heard from Columbia PhD Epi yet, University of North Texas or University of Oklahoma?
  10. the sociology post is under "2021 cycle"
