  1. This is good to know for those who didn't get in! Thank you for sharing
  2. I'm really sorry to hear this, and I'm also quite surprised myself, not only because of your stats and experience being so great but also because you know some of the faculty personally then I would have imagined they might have been able to put a good word in for you or something. As the others mentioned, please don't give up! Obviously we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but given how great your numerical stats are, perhaps it was one of the more qualitative aspects of the application, like your letter of intent or the reference letters? If you do apply again next year, the GRE requirement has been waived so hopefully that will allow you to focus on writing an outstanding letter of intent and doing well on CASPer One other thing I noticed (I hope you don't mind that I went back to re-look at your stats) would be that you wrote the CASPer test on the last available day, January 26th. The deadline for UA was February 1st, and the CASPer website says that it can take 2-3 weeks for schools to receive the scores, so do you know for sure that they received them in time? I'm not sure if you were checking the status of your application/the checklist frequently on the GSMS portal, but maybe for a bit of time it was partially incomplete, and that was a factor? I'm not sure, but I just thought I might point this out. Finally, I'm not sure if UofA does this, but I know sometimes if you email departments to ask what you can improve on for the next cycle sometimes they'll give a hint about it (but not every school does this). I've seen on past forums some schools have told applicants they should try and improve their letters of intent to make them more interesting, boost prereq grades, had a low CASPer score, etc. I hope some of this helps! I'm sorry once again that you were rejected and I'm sure it was probably surprising for you, but I hope you hang in there and don't give up!
  3. My guess is there would've been way more out of province/distance applicants this year. While normally the only people who'd apply would be ones who are willing to travel to McMaster for the MMIs, I imagine in the past they had very few out of province applicants, or even ones from cities further away in Ontario. This year people from anywhere across Canada could apply without worrying about needing to travel there, so I imagine many more people applied since they probably already had the prereqs (since McMaster's aren't as intense as many other schools) and also they don't require a CV, reference letter, letter of intent, etc..
  4. I think they might mean the ORPAS portal, because acceptances/waitlist/rejections will appear there for all of the Ontario schools! Although I can't guarantee they appear there at midnight for all of the schools (I know for some responses in the past they've gone out during business hours, I recall someone on a past forum mentioning UofT doing this in particular).
  5. Haha that's too funny! I wonder if any of us have taken classes together before. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you ever wanna chat, haha.
  6. Looking at your signature, congrats on going 3/3 for your applications, that's super impressive! And that also sounds like you've had some awesome experiences as well. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea which uni you're leaning towards accepting? I haven't yet made up my mind about my top choices and am curious what others think, lol. (side note, based on the GPA scale and major you mentioned, I think we may have gone to the same uni, haha) ?
  7. Congrats, that's awesome! Do you mind if I ask whether you applied for the thesis one or not? I'm curious if that might affect the order they send them out in. Also thanks for saying Dal is asking for a response by April 15th as well, that definitely makes me suspect they'll send the rest in the next little bit as well! I think in past forums I've seen that they've also sent waitlist emails, although without going back to check I can't be 100% sure (and also it might be different this year). Also, my portal was never updated to show they've received everything, either. But past forums seem to show they often don't update that even after all the responses have been sent out, so email is your best bet for being contacted
  8. Hi! I don't go to Dal or know anyone in the SLP program, but my sister went there for 4 years for nursing and graduated about 2 years ago (and still lives in Halifax) so if you have any questions about the school in general, city, etc. feel free to PM me For me personally, I think I place Dalhousie last on my list not only because it's 3 years, but it's also much more expensive than the other programs. Additionally, they seem to not release responses til April/May anyway, so given how late that is and that I've heard from schools, I'm far more likely to pick a school I've already heard from than to wait out on it. However, going into this process, I said that if Dal were the only school I received an admittance to, I definitely still would have gone, as it is a great school and Halifax is a pretty nice city as well.
  9. This could definitely be it! When I got my email from Vicki yesterday, it had a Word document attached with a title/content specific to my name and application, so I'm guessing she's having to manually send each individual an email (and send a separate portal message) so this could definitely be taking a bit as well as there are lots of applications to go through. Nonetheless, I ache for your frustrations and really hope that they'll be able to get the rest out on Monday for you all to know!
  10. Hi! I received an automated message telling me there was a new message on my portal to check at 6:46p.m. Ontario time (so 4:46pm Edmonton time) so I did and I could see it in my portal messages there! I then received an email from Vicki with a letter attached like 5 minutes later! So since the automated message came a few minutes before the one from Vicki to me, I wonder if they might have to be going one by one, and so that might explain why it's taking a bit since they need to update everyone's portals and send them an email once that step is done? Just a guess! So since there are nearly 60 people admitted I can see why that would take a while, if that is how they're doing it. I am not! I'm from Ontario and also go to school here. Hi! My last name begins with a C. It definitely seems like they could be doing it this way! I think in the past they've sometimes done them over one or two days, sometimes in different weeks (sort of like McGill did last year). Hopefully everyone else will hear on Monday! I imagine they probably have to send more out, since Vicki is sending emails and I received mine just before 5pm Edmonton time I imagine I was probably one of (if not the) last one of the day. For comparison there were between 5-8 or so people on here who got accepted to McGill this year (out of a class size of under 30) and so considering UA accepts nearly 60, I'd imagine they're not done yet and more people from here will hear back!
  11. Hi all, I also just received an email telling me to check my portal and it says I've been offered a conditional offer to the program! I'm still in my 4th year so I'm assuming that's why it's conditional, since I have some courses to finish, but I'm super happy for this!
  12. Based on past forums, sometimes it's taken them several days to send them out, so if you haven't heard from them by the end of today don't get your hopes up yet! I believe decisions for people receiving scholarships/funding have to be made sooner than the rest, so there's a chance that might partly explain it. But I think until we heard back for sure it's okay to still have some hope
  13. Congrats, that's great news! Mine still says "Under Review" and I haven't been contacted or anything, but it's good to know they've made some decisions and the rest of us will likely hear soon!
  14. I figured it would've been impacted because of covid, but wasn't sure if they did an online version instead. Thanks for the info! I'll see you tomorrow then
  15. Did anyone here attend the McGill prospective students day last year? I'm signed up for it this year but didn't go last year, so I'm curious if anyone knows what it's like! Anyone else here attending tomorrow?
  16. I was wondering this too, but if you already activated the account back when they sent the original email a while ago I think you should be okay! I made the account back then and still received this email. The email says that once you've activated your account you should be able to log in to the Student Centre, so since we're able to log into that then I'd assume it means it was activated already. They probably just sent it to all of the applicants
  17. I don't think so! I think all they say is sometime in April.
  18. Thank you for this information, and congrats on making it in! Would you mind if I messaged you to ask you a few questions about your experience at McGill so far? If not I completely understand Thanks!
  19. I don't know much about their movement, but I'm going to assume it has to do with program size. While McGill's class size is under 30 students, it makes sense that their waitlist is smaller than Westerns is, who have a class size of 50. I also think Western's waitlist is abnormally large proportionately compared to most schools, and so for students in the 3rd or 4th quadrant on the waitlist chances are quite slim. Based on past forums I've seen people in the 2nd quadrant who never got in. Yes! Definitely. I'm happy to have heard back from McGill so far, but still antsy to hear from others! Especially the schools that don't have a set date on when they'll be sending offers out.
  20. Yeah! It's an expensive enough process as it is, plus that extra expense and stress...yikes. It turns out UAlberta won't be requiring it for Fall 2022 admissions anymore, either. Welp, too late now, but good to know for future applicants! UAlberta says it here -> https://www.ualberta.ca/communications-sciences-and-disorders/programs/msc-in-speech-language-pathology/admissions/admission-requirements/index.html
  21. Not super relevant right now, but I just went to Dal's website to check something else and they've already updated it for the 2022 admissions cycle, and starting next year they won't require the GRE anymore. Just thought this was interesting and wanted to point it out, in case anyone here will be applying there next year as well! It also makes me wonder if they don't put high value on it this year, although that's just me pondering something and obviously isn't actual information. Find it here -> https://www.dal.ca/faculty/health/scsd/scsd-admissions-info/scsd-frequently-asked-questions.html
  22. Thanks for starting this, it seems useful! Also if people want to update the "Results" section as well, I'm sure it'll be useful for future years as well.
  23. Hi! My cumulative average is currently 3.89, although it might be a teeny bit below that as I was missing a couple grades from the Fall 2020 semester when we had to submit transcripts on the January 15th deadline. If you're interested in other aspects, I don't actually have any direct SLP experience, but I do have some research experience and am a teaching assistant, so not sure if that helped a bit as well. So, to those who might not have been able to get clinical experience hours because of COVID, don't get your hopes up too much!
  24. I just received one as well! I am freaking out my goodness! Congratulations to you as well!
  25. Thanks for this info! For those of you who received a waitlist email yesterday, would you mind sharing what time you received the email at? I'm curious if it's an automatic email that was all sent at the same time to all of those individuals who received one, or if they sent them individually one at a time. I think this might give an idea on how they might do it on Monday/next week. Maybe I'm just overthinking/eager, haha ?
