  1. Hi! There are a couple of other course-based programs you didn't list that you could check out for online part time (this is based on my knowledge from searching last year, there's a chance things have changed since then): UAlberta's Health Promotion Distance option, Memorial University if you do part-time can be online, and University of Victoria. I don't know any thesis-based programs, and I don't know if you have any specific topics of interest, but. From my understanding, applying as an online and/or part-time student isn't generally any more or less competitive than applying to that school in general. It differs a little for schools that having specific seating allocations for different streams though (like UAlberta, although Health Promotion Distance is their biggest stream). I'm personally finding online to be a bit isolating, as are some of the other kids in my program. I do appreciate not having to go onto campus and risk any COVID spread, and it's nice to have flexibility with work (I work part-time and do school full-time) but it can be more challenging to make connections. How suitable online might be for you depends on what you want out of the program. If you want connections, friends, and tons of networking, being online and part-time might be tougher. If you know where you want to go and this is a means to an end, this is probably the perfect choice. If you're somewhere in the middle, but keeping your job is more important, then online and part time can be a great option! I'm currently at UAlberta in my first year but applied to a few schools including Waterloo and Memorial, so if you or anyone have any questions about the whole process, feel free to ask!
  2. Congrats!! Which stream? How were you notified?
  3. No idea. I know as much as you haha. Although I saw something on this forum once about them accepting about 20 people to health promotion? I don't imagine they'll accept many extra than previous years. U of A really doesn't have any extra funding, and online students still need teaching faculty and advisors and stuff.
  4. I'm doing the Health Promotion stream this fall. I also noticed that all of the classes are online, and it looks like they're online in the winter as well. I was expecting for some or all of the health promotion-related courses to be online, as they seem to have done this in past years to accomodate the distance students, but it does look like SPH has decided to play very safe with their courses. I imagine we'll get some sort of more detailed information for the fall in the coming weeks (in time to enroll on May 19, hopefully)!
  5. Nope, sorry
  6. Just got an email a couple hours ago that I've been waitlisted for Memorial! Anyone else hear from them today?
  7. So sorry to hear that! That's incredibly frustrating and disappointing... they shouldn't be allowed to send an offer out and then pull it back like that. Like someone else said, any chance you could reach back out to that job?
  8. How long ago did they post that? I can't seem to find the post.
  9. Hopping on the bandwagon as well to say that my quest portal for Waterloo was updated today with an offer! No official offer letter or email or deadline for decision, but I will most likely be declining.
  10. Sorry to hear that everyone. How were you notified that you got a rejection?
  11. Only one person has posted about getting an offer from Waterloo (an unofficial one). Not sure if the rest just aren't on this forum or if they actually haven't sent out that many yet.
  12. Sorry to hear that ://
  13. Hello and welcome! What schools did you apply to (and what streams, if applicable)? So the very first thing you should check is whether that first offer requires a deposit to accept. Not all schools do (U of A, for example), so you should check on that. From there, you have a couple of options (and if someone notices I'm missing something, then do add on!). If they don't require a deposit, you can either accept right away or wait until the offer deadline just to guarantee that you have somewhere to go. And if you get accepted somewhere else and choose there, you can contact the first school and let them know you no longer wish to attend the program/want to turn down the offer now. They can't really hold you to it if you haven't made any deposit. If you decide you do indeed want to go to the first school or you don't get other offers, you're already set and have a spot! If they do require a deposit, your first step should probably be to email and see if they're willing to extend the offer deadline (until a specific date, if you know when you can anticipate hearing from other schools, or just extend by a week or two, maybe). Some schools may be willing, especially if they are big, and are confident they could fill the spot later pulling from the waitlist. Smaller schools might not be so willing, but you'll never know unless you ask! If they're willing to give you an extension, that gives you a bit more time, but you still might end up in the same situation if you haven't heard anything still. If they're not willing to give an extension, then you'll just have to weigh your options. You could accept now (or right before the offer deadline) and pay the deposit, because you aren't sure about the other program(s) and don't want to risk not having a spot. If you get accepted elsewhere and decide that's where you'd prefer, you'd have to just suck up the deposit, they won't return it to you. If you don't get offers elsewhere or decide the first school is where you want to go, then you're all set and accepted and paid! However, if you decide you don't want to risk losing the deposit, then you could choose not to accept the offer and hope that you get another offer. Alternatively, if you decide to reject the offer/let the deadline pass, but then decide soon after the deadline that you would actually still like to go there, you could try emailing and asking if they would still honour the offer. This is probably the least likely option, though. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!
  14. Congratulations!! Did you get that email today?
  15. Congrats!! I'm glad it got worked out for you! Hopefully that letter comes soon!
