  1. Hey! Applying to the fall 2023 cohorts for SCCP and SACP MA programs in Canada. Any tips you’ve received?
  2. I actually applied right when they opened up applications and submitted everything by mid November
  3. I finallyyyyy got the rejection to the counselling psychotherapy program as well. so glad the wait for that program is over!
  4. Anyone accepted into the MED Counselling, would you mind sharing the topics discussed in your statement of intent? Thanks
  5. just wondering, the people who were accepted, are they currently in the program? I might reapply this fall while I go to a certificate but my concern is will the program recognize that I am in the program and that would be helpful? or would I have to graduate from the certificate first. thanks!
  6. Hi All, I would really appreciate hearing from people who have applied to child psychology masters programs and other programs around Canada that aren't thesis based for psychology… there are many programs available for this and im considering applying, just want to know what you have heard about from different programs or honestly any information! thank you so much ❤️
  7. not yet but I received an unofficial rejection from the program because I asked. he told me that I would be getting an official email very soon. he said "very" which led me to believe its coming this Friday
  8. hahaha I know same. I currently go to Mac so I was GREATLY offended but tried not to take it personally. The program I applied to was Addictions and Mental Health although I applied in early March and they havent gotten back!
  9. That's a great backup plan, Humber and Mohawk are also my backups too so maybe I will see you there ? Mac also has that program too where its not research based which I agree, is hard to find a program like that! good luck!
  10. I wish you the best in your future endeavors!! hopefully you get into the waitlisted programs, please keep us updated!! when did you email Todd, im debating contacting him!
  11. If you aren't 100% committed to a career that you wont be happy in I suggest finding the way out! You don't want to find yourself in a position where you are unhappy years to come. if you don't want to do a certificate (which btw takes a year) then I suggest the Yorkville MACP program. a LOT of their students are much older than undergrads (in their 40s) who came from a completely different career. If you have good references, high grades (and money since its a private school) I would consider applying!
  12. Personally I will not be reapplying this coming fall for 2 reasons. 1) although I have made progress in my CV already, I would rather make even more progress in my education and experiences. 2) there are other programs that will get you registered with the CRPO. for eg: Yorkville's MACP program. The way I see it is if you have a goal and you have an opportunity to get there now, I wouldn't waste time on trying to go to 1 university. (in my case if I get accepted to Yorkville I will attend even if it's online) but everyone has their own opinions about where they want to go and what the degree will get them. just remember, YOU and your skills will determine how well you are in your career, not the university you went to!
  13. Hey! my suggestion is to take a continuing education certificate in psychology. Ryerson has a really good one that honestly looks exactly like my psychology undergrad programs. UofT has a CBT course that you could take. I would suggest looking at colleges as well, I think getting the education would be important. Also, I would suggest doing more volunteer work in the field like KidsHelpPhone, Jack.Org or things in your area that are mental health related.
  14. Hi there, congrats on your acceptances thats amazing! Since McGill is in Montreal you wouldn't be registered in Ontario by graduating this program, you would have to go through the process of getting registered with the CRPO which is for Ontario. UofT will be the quicker route in this case because you would be registered with the college board in Ontario. as for the program quality of training im not sure if there is a difference. TBH they are both amazing schools and very well known so I feel for the most part how you learn and implement the knowledge you gain will play a big role in the quality of your training Hope this helped!
  15. Congrats!! It's always good to have a backup plan for sure when you checked on Acorn, where did you see the invitation status?
  16. correct me if I'm wrong in understanding your question, but you are asking if they are kind of equivalent in terms of job searching in future? from what I know about the university, you are qualified just the same since the university is under CRPO. When looking for placement while in the program, it will be challenging to find one only because they don't help you out in that aspect but once you are registered with the CRPO no it wouldn't be challenging. the most important thing is that you are registered!
  17. wow! I had no idea theres a new PsyD program. that makes me excited for the future bc I want to be enrolled in one of those programs. So this doctorate in psychotherapy does not give you the credentials of a doctor like a PhD or PsyD would. you would be able to say professionally you hold a doctorate but in my opinion I believe this new program is for a more hands on aspect to becoming a registered psychotherapist!
  18. I actually found out recently that the Yorkville program has a new Doctorate program! this is still in Psychotherapy and I believe you will have a doctorate in psychotherapy (ive never heard of this. but its a brand new program) so I would check if it would. be CPA accredited
  19. Thats awesome! you gave me some hope because I have very similar experience as you but I didnt mention on my CV how many hours I did in each experience. I hope that doesn't deter them from me! haha congrats again
  20. CONGRATS!! that is so amazing to hear would you be willing to share your experience and gpa?
