  1. Hi, I'm not sure if this response will help, but academic references do tend to be professors who've taught you so that they can speak to your ability to complete academic work in grad school. That being said, my academic references were professors who I took courses with and did research under, and they wrote mostly about my soft skills (because they were able to observe me outside of the classroom) and my preparedness for the coursework. I think any reference who can assess you from an academic perspective (ie. as someone in academia themselves, do they see you as capable) should count, and the most important thing is how well they know you which doesn't have to be limited to the classroom. However, if you're still unsure, always contact the school themselves! Especially since you're preparing so far in advance. Good luck!
  2. Checked ORPAS and I got into Western!
  3. Actually, someone posted their stats on the 2024 prep thread on June 15th. They got off the waitlist for UofA and had a 1st quartile score.
  4. I'm sorry I couldn't offer more in terms of advice. Thankfully they did eventually submit, but at the time I was worried I would have to call them if it got any closer to the deadline. Other than that, I couldn't think of any back-up plans, so I really empathize with your situation.
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your concerns with reference submissions. If this is for UofA, I had a similar problem (the reference link was sent a month in advance, 3 days before the deadline, no responses to my several reminder emails, so I wasn't even sure if they'd gotten the link). I requested the link be sent again, and in the academic advisor's response, they specified that the "absolute deadline" for references is Feb 1st, 11:59pm, and that they would not receive documents afterwards. I'm not sure if you'll get a different response if you explain your circumstances, but that was what I was told. I hope your reference comes through!
  6. Hi everyone! This is my first time applying, but I'm also not applying directly from my undergrad. I'm interested in UofT and Western! I don't know if it's too early to ask, but I was wondering if anyone currently attending UofT would be willing to look at my statement of intent?
