Our best friends in Nashville were an inter-racial couple, she's black and he's white. I can't speak for them but I do believe that they like living in Nashville. We've gone out with them and never really had any problems. I'm sure that they get strange looks every now and then, but that is more the exception than the rule. Nashville is a lovely city and I'm sure you guys would love it here. Your races shouldn't be a problem.
  2. Your info makes it seem like you would fit well in a computational neuro program. That said, systems and cognitive neuro is somewhat of a different story. Your stats look good (some better than mine) but it really is a matter of fit. I would suggest applying to grad programs that have you have a strong interest (do your research on this to not waste your money and time). Also, look a research work as a fall back. if you get in great, but if you don't you will have another option that will help your app for next time.
  3. Yes, I do still own it. It is currently rented out, but will probably be available when you plan on coming. It is very reasonably priced. Email me when it gets closer and I'll get it shown to you.

It's not in too bad of an area, but it really depends on what you compare it to. It is not as nice as Hillsboro. I would feel fine living there but my wife certainly would not feel safe there. It's really a matter of comparison.

I currently live in Nashville and am a native. The best way to look for a car, assuming that you don't want to buy from a dealership is Craigslist. You have to do your homework and make sure that the car is not a lemon, but you will usually get the best deal this way. OR, if you have money to spend, then there are several dealerships around town that will gladly oblige. If anyone has other questions they'd like to ask a native, I'll try to help. Just PM me.

Is there an inexpensive way to modify a cheap mountain bike into a semi-decent road bike?
  7. I don't know about the OP, but I am loving this discussion. I am very liberal (modern usage) but I feel that someone who has gone through the difficult (at least where I am) process of obtaining a CCW should have the ability to carry the weapon where ever it is not explicitly forbidden. I don't think that anyone is arguing that Universities don't also have the right to restrict or ban such usage, but this discussion is whether they should. I think that that those who are arguing pro-guns allowed on campus are not saying that everyone should be issued a gun upon class registration. But, that those who have been vetted by the CCW system (which could be strengthened in some areas but is pretty rigorous in others) are most likely to be peaceful in their actions and more likely (than the average person) to reduce violence. I know that no system can prevent someone from 'snapping' but I really think that is more rare than wtncffts perceives it to be. Also, I have +1 most of Eigen's posts b/c she does a good job arguing a side that is often represented by the loudest and not the most informed.
  8. Yes, generally it is a 800 or 888 number, so it is a free line. But it is also a big pain in the a$$.
  9. Well, whether they are polite or not is kind of a crap-shoot. The problem is that the person that you speak to doesn't have the knowledge or authority to help with your problem. They don' seem to have much technical training and seem to be working through a script that they are provided when you present a problem. OR, if your issue has to do with your account you will need to be transferred about 10 times before you get to someone who can do something about it. The easiest thing to do with comcast is cancel your service.
