I just got a rejection letter from Duke, also. Technically, it is the first admission decision I received, but I consider the invitation to an interview I got from Indiana (Telecommunications, not PoliSci) as a kind of decision, so it ain't all bad.

What are good and safe areas to rent an apartment in Philadelphia with quick and easy public transportation to UPenn? Also, do you know if it's harder to find an apartment in February than during the summer/fall?

I've been invited to an interview via Skype. The invitation did not specify which members of the faculty will participate, and I have no idea if my POI will be one of them. Normally, I'd familiarize myself with my interviewer's work before the interview, but in this case I don't know whose work to read up on. Any suggestions?

I gotta vent about the US Postal Service. I mailed something from Israel two weeks ago, and it still hasn't reached its destination. According to the tracking page, it took it five days to reach the States, then another four to reach its destination city (which is a major east coast city), and four more days have gone by, and the letter still hasn't reached the university. What's up with that?!? -
Thanks, Iamhere. I hope you'll be invited to an interview soon, too. I don't know if they interview everyone or only international students, since they said my English would also be evaluated. Congrats S@lly, IronicStatement and MediaMom!

I just got an invitation to a Skype interview from Indiana (Telecommunications) and an e-mail from NYU telling me my application is under review.

It doesn't mean anything. It's just an automated e-mail to all applicants. I've been getting those messages from them every 10 days or so ever since I submitted my application a few months ago. If you hover your mouse over the red diamond, you'll see stats. Not all entries have them.

Are you referring to NYU's Department of Media, Communication and Culture? I haven't seen anything from them on the results survey (which you can access at the top of each page). Have you heard from someone who has heard back from them? Which department at Indiana U did you apply to - Telecommunications or Communication and Culture? It's my impression that most Comm programs don't do interviews at all.

I also applied to Duke and didn't get any e-mail. I hope this doesn't mean a rejection - I wouldn't like the first decision I receive to be negative. Oh, well, if that's what it is, I hope another program hurries up and sends me an acceptance before Duke rejects me, so I'll feel better with myself.

Are there any programs that change the acceptance status on their website without sending e-mails? I'm trying to figure out whether I should obsessively refresh my e-mail and the status pages or just stick to obsessively refreshing my e-mail. -
Hmm... I just found out there's a daily quota for the number of positive votes. I guess that's what happens when you try to save people from being in the red! These reputation points are odd.
