  1. It’s never too late! and it’s already been said, but they have rolling admissions so it really is never too late?
  2. Congratulations!! I know someone on here is a current DSW student at Tulane, if you have questions I bet they will get answered
  3. Congrats to the Bama Grads! Do you happen to know if 135 applicants is seeming to be normal for the DSW, or was that possibly number possibly an outlier because of the pandemic?
  4. ? I think that's great you're looking for elective options! I didn't think about electives much when I was applying and not being given the option now is a bit of a sad reality as I would love a policy course and USC does not offer one (USC, if you are reading this, OFFER A POLICY COURSE!!!). The programs I looked at before applying mostly didn't have it as an option and I somewhat assumed that was normal at the DSW level where your dissertation/capstone is where your independence is.
  5. LOL! I knew it was the right approach! I'm glad you checked in. I can't remember, what was your focus? I'm really hoping more affordable R1 universities come into the fold quickly to help the degree become more accessible to more social workers too. I can see it really befitting so many people and the field at large. Also, I hope you keep checking in, with or without FOMO setting in. *We'll have to sort out that coffee gift card for you....
  6. Oh! And we can use PAR principals to run our forum study on the intersection of the pandemic and perspective doctoral students in the field of social work!
  7. Maybe we should offer 5.00 coffee shop gift cards for forum thread participation to gain more insight from other students and prospective students.
  8. I've appreciated more people sharing their positive experience and new places for DSW to be seen in the field with more to be expected on the horizon. When I first was looking at applying was in NYU's first year of offering the degree and a lot of people seemed to looking to find reasons for it to not matter. A bit silly perhaps for a degree that was once more popular than a PhD in SW ??‍♂️. Oh well, I'm glad it is back and gaining in popularity once again!
  9. I can' t believe that we are starting up again. Have a great spring everyone! (I have 6 in of snow on the ground, saying spring seems really silly right now ?)
  10. I'm good! That's so exciting you will be starting soon!! I hope you do get to fully enjoy and take advantage of the break, I'm working on the same thing. I have a small variety of things to get done and then I'm going to take it as R&R and building new routines for the spring so hopefully I don't loose track of running and getting outside as much as I did this past fall.
  11. I'm missing the chatter on here. if anyone is around, how are you? For all the recent students, how has your first semester gone? ? ?
  12. Did you start or are you starting in January? I'm not sure what question to ask, how was your first semester or excited for your first semester?!?!
  13. And this forum normally gets a lot more traffic starting in the next few weeks as people scramble to apply, so any questions you have will more and faster attention. Good luck!
  14. Welcome! I do not have no solid information for you on the potential black mark against you. I would say that given your desired focus being outside of the clinical side of things and your openness to all DSW programs (except USC-I say apply to USC anyhow and just find out, I can say for sure they don't need you to be clinical, and they do a lot of leadership and program development within the curriculum ✌️) I would think as long as you keep focused on programs aligning with your goals it won't be a black mark against you. UPenn will probably care, I'll let someone else say that for sure... but their program doesn't sound like it will align with your goals anyhow. Total side note, did anyone know that this -> ✌️ is called "victory hand"? who did USC pay off to have this called victory hand???
  15. I've been trying to find something useful to say on here... I haven't thought of anything. But I'm super curious when the next waive of people show up to get info and support and where they will apply for admission! And how many people will come back and keep in touch from last year!! Where are you laster year'ers? Hi new folks!
  16. First assignment is due Tuesday!! Welcome back to school!!!
  17. Have a wonderful Fall semester everyone!! Especially those starting this fall or spring and have a last few days/months to go ? *I can’t believe I’m already reading for class again, also can’t believe how much of the road is behind me already! ?
  18. I'm going to miss this thread.
  19. Come join us all on the 2022 thread!!!! @DSWstudentTSSW, I hope I'm not taking your thunder by posting the new thread you started.
  20. I'm jumping ahead of myself here, but I'm looking forward to the bigger numbers of people joining this tread when application season comes back around.
  21. LOL! yes, I would like to hear how the Bama process is for someone at some point along the way!!
  22. If you feel aligned with the ideas of social work and the concept of what you would gain from attending the program I wouldn't at all let it stop you! They admit non-social workers, it's part of the program. just my 2 cents
