    Unexpectedly, I got into graduate school! But I've taken this job already, and I'm already excited about it, so I'm going to take the 2 years off anyway. It'll be good for me, I feel.

      Congrats, gellert! If I recall, you had expressed some doubt regarding your prospects a week or two ago. I am happy for you that things might not have been as they seemed. I will keep my fingers crossed, and send you plenty of good vibes.

      thanks! it's not my initial plan, but i'm fine with taking a couple of years off if it gets me where i want to be in the end. :)

      I had a very similar experience during my 1st grad app cycle, except that I turned down the one school (cog neuro) that was very basic research oriented and I wanted to do much more applied cog sci/education research. I took 2 years working as a research associate at a learning research center at a top R1, and ended up getting multiple offers that fit me better the 2nd time around. You'll be just fine :)

    academia.edu says i've been googled four times in the past two days. ugh i'm getting nervous. (and excited!)

      academia.edu only gives results if they find/access your academia.edu profile via the search. but fwiw, my name is extremely uncommon and all the search keywords have included my undergrad institution. so yep, no escaping it, and no doubt it is what it is. :/ (:D? )
