  1. It's so crazy how our lives could change (or not) over the next few weeks! I've been reflecting on that, and realize that I should be more grateful for the opportunities afforded to me to even apply. Regardless of what happens, it's important to keep things in perspective and recognize how privileged we really are. Hoping we all get good news over the next little while, and if not, hoping we all remain focused and positive as surely something better is in store for us
  2. I know... Honestly I wish they would just tell us when they will inform us so it's not so much agony just waiting and not knowing when we can even expect to hear back...
  3. Did you guys apply for counselling psychology at UOttawa? Mine still says incomplete as they haven't updated my file with my transcript ...
  4. For folks who applied to U of Calgary's MSc Counselling Psychology program, we should hear back next week or the week after!
  5. Sorry to hear that Did you apply to clinical or counselling psychology?
  6. Hi there! I applied to UBC and SFU, haven't heard back yet!
  7. I actually just got an email as well! Thanks so much I wonder what kind of questions they will be asking...
  8. Congratulations! I applied but haven't heard back just yet - here's hoping!
  9. Hey fellow SFUers! We'll see you all next year
  10. Hey, I haven't received my formal letter yet either.. I'm actually starting to become slightly impatient with SFU to be honest. We received notice almost 2 months ago and nothing has really changed yet. I'll definietly post when I get my formal letter yet. As far as scholarships, generally the MPH programs have very little fundings
  11. Yeah Heat is right, UBC has a better world-wide reputation generally speaking. I just meant it has a better rep in Public Health and particularly in Global Health.
  12. Definitely SFU if you want a better reputation and less statistics. Stats was the thing that turned me off of UBC when I spoke to the advisors there (I'm finishing my undergrad at UBC right now).
  13. Don't worry! I'm sure they will send the rest out Monday! I'm the Global Health Stream and the offer wasn't even the official Dean offer- just asking us to accept or decline from the FHS.
  14. I got my offer too, but it really didn't say anything different! Just said I had to accept by April 27th! Anything else from anyone else???
  15. I think it's a mixture of my final tonight and 2 papers to write this weekend lol along with my OCD tendency to check
  16. OKAY I'm officially done checking my email compulsively every 3 seconds to see if I got the email.. UGH. CMON SFU.
  17. Hey SFU'ers and potential SFU'ers.... Maybe we should call the faculty and make sure official offers get sent out today? A lot of us have to make decisions regarding where we're going ASAP... and this is a tad ridiculous. Thoughts? 0http://forum.thegradcafe.com/public/style_images/master/add.pnghttp://forum.thegradcafe.com/public/style_images/master/delete.png
  18. i know!!!! It's been driving me mad, but the email FHS sent to me said it would be sent by tomorrow! So I really hope they do! I need to get on my Student Aid stuff too... so this is becoming slightly annoying!
  19. Hey Anastasia HF, I'm actually just completing my undergrad at UBC, and decided for SFU over UBC for a lot of reasons- even though I love UBC (1) SFU is the only currently accredited program (asides from one French school in Quebec) and has one of the best reputations worldwide according to some of the public health agencies I've talked to and worked with. (2) UBC's program is BRAND NEW- they just had their first set of grads this year, and they are still developing the program. When I spoke to one of my profs who was also developing the program- she highly recommended I go to SFU as UBC is very very statistics based, not accredited, and the program isn't that great yet. Also, she mentioned that UBC is competitive for one reason and one reason alone: it's UBC. So they may be competitive, but quality doesn't fall in line with that. (3) Overall, any organizations I spoke with or individuals working in public health all pointed me to SFU instead, as did some of the medical school professors at UBC that I spoke to. (4) ALSO: SFU has the specific streams whereas UBC doesn't I'd rather go for quality over reputation. SFU all the way Though I must admit lol, I will miss UBC!
  20. Hey guys! I will be doing my MPH at SFU this fall as well- congrats to all of you FYI- I emailed FHS a few days ago and they told me our formal offers of admission will be sent by Friday this week So just a day or two now!
