  1. Good luck with Eastman interviews, to everyone who has them! Have a good time! Next deadline for me is 31 Dec... Submitting apps is always fun times...
  2. I think that's right, too, but then I'm confused as to why it still says "Application status: Incomplete." They acknowledged receipt of my GRE scores, references, application fee, and transcript (not official) ... I don't know what I've missed!
  3. Oh right... I think I just got confused; this happens frequently. Sorry! PS: We don't have to send hard copy transcripts to Penn, right?
  4. I thought that the Penn app allowed a writing sample (2 combined, rather) of 2.5 KB... I managed to squeeze my ~50 pages into 2.3 KB, magically...
  5. Nope, not applying to Duke, but I had a similar realization yesterday when I discovered that the Stanford deadline is 13 Dec, not 15 Dec, as I'd written on my spreadsheet...
  6. Submitted my first one last night. Next deadline is 15 Dec... Super stressful! Almost over though.
  7. I recall hearing that Columbia, Yale and Penn interview, but I'm not sure about any of the others.
  8. Haven't submitted anything yet, waiting on my one referee who is being incredible slow/non-communicative/potentially without internet access... He's stressing me out so freaking much!!
  9. Do musicology programs tend to interview applicants before deciding to admit them (i.e. not for an assistantship but actually for admissions purposes)?
  10. It's required. I need to write one of these as well, and I went with answering the first bit of the question primarily: "In an essay, discuss how your personal background informs your decision to pursue a graduate degree." And then went on to talk a bit about how I might use my education to help others in the future (i.e. contributing to and/or establishing music education programs, etc).
  11. Things are going ok on my end. Waiting for a professor to get one of my essays back to me, and waiting for a few reference letters to be submitted. That's where I'm stressing, at the moment, because I'm in the UK and two of my referees are the US so I can't exactly see them in person to remind them of the deadlines, and I always feel terribly awkward sending reminder emails... particularly to the one who's in Germany on leave and (potentially) not really checking email!
  12. I've got the same problem. One of my referees is on leave and his email box is over-quota so I can't even get emails through to him... I've very concerned he's going to forget about my application that's due on Dec 1!!
  13. i went with the automated reminder email from the application itself.
  14. My first deadline is fast approaching, and two of my referees haven't submitted their letters yet. I'd like to be sure they haven't forgotten, but I don't want to make it sound like I think they're being irresponsible! How might I best phrase a reminder in an email?
  15. The year really is flying by... I've settled on eight schools, but may add a ninth. I think it's going to come down to the wire on these applications, as one of my professors is reading an application essay of mine and probably won't get it back to me before he gets back from a conference in the States around 14 Nov or so... Stressful! How is everyone's applications coming along?
  16. Took it 9/22 v: 164 (94%) q: 162 (87%) aw: 4.5 (72%) i'm unhappy with the aw score, but good with the rest!
  17. The second batch might even be out on Friday, if they're running 6 days ahead of time... Fingers crossed!
  18. Based on the conversions ETS has provided so far, my guess is that the conversions will look something like this: Verbal 490 --> 152 --> 60% 540 --> 156 --> 73% 550 --> 157 --> 75% 560 --> 157 --> 78% 570 --> 158 --> 80% 580 --> 158 --> 82% 590 --> 159 --> 84% 600 --> 160 --> 86% 610 --> 160 --> 88% 620 --> 161 --> 90% 630 --> 162 --> 91% 640 --> 162 --> 92% 650 --> 163 --> 93% 660 --> 164 --> 94% 670 --> 164 --> 94% 680 --> 165 --> 95% 690 --> 166 --> 96% 700 --> 166 --> 97% 710 --> 167 --> 97% 720 --> 168 --> 98% 770 and up --> 170 --> 99% Math 470 --> 142 --> 22% 570 --> 147 --> 40% 580 --> 147 --> 42% 590 --> 148 --> 44% 600 --> 148 --> 46% 610 --> 149 --> 48% 620 --> 149 --> 50% 630 --> 150 --> 52% 640 --> 150 --> 55% 650 --> 151 --> 59% 670 --> 152 --> 63% 680 --> 153 --> 66% 690 --> 154 --> 69% 700 --> 155 --> 71% 710 --> 156 --> 73% 720 --> 157 --> 75% 730 --> 157 --> 77% 740 --> 158 --> 79% 750 --> 159 --> 82% 760 --> 160 --> 84% 770 --> 161 --> 87% 780 --> 163 --> 89% 790 --> 165 --> 91% 800 --> 166 --> 94% AW 4.5 --> 72% 5.0 --> 87% 5.5 --> 94% 6.0 --> 99%
  19. ok this is super helpful. i'm gonna ballpark that with my V: 680-780 and Q: 750-800, i'm probably looking at something akin to V: 164-170 --> 94-99% Q: 159-170 --> 83-94%
  20. Yeah it always bothers me doing anything reference letter-related by email. Even over the phone would feel better but, being overseas, I'm stuck with email...
  21. It's open! Finally!
  22. I meant MSt program.
  23. If they take too long, they just won't get any applicants... So it would be in their best interest to hurry up!
  24. I will be coming from Oxford's MSc program.
  25. Does anyone know when it will open? All the others seem to be open except for Columbia's, and they give no information on their website about when the app will be available.
