I called them to schedule a visit! And the woman on the phone was like "uhhh sorry, there's been a mistake" so awful. All in the past though
-
It was after the first round of rejections and acceptances had been sent, they accidentally sent out unsigned acceptance letters to around 30 people at the end of march. It was crushing, but it taught me to look out for a signature in a letter!
-
Yeah. I was one of them. It was awful.
-
Yeah, I received an email earlier this week, and a different one today! Thanks for making your point extra clear Rutgers... now if only i could get some good news... congratulations to everyone for their acceptances! and good luck to the rest

Being almost as young as you (23), i don't claim to have any answers but here is my perspective: No one should go to grad school because they feel that it is the only way to become an recognized artist. If you feel that you have a lot to accomplish out of school, then you probably will! That said its not really a question of giving up at this point? If you decide not to reapply next year, there are so many more years ahead to change your mind. grad school may not be for everyone but most importantly its for different people at different times of their lives. Honestly with all of the work and money that goes into an MFA, you should go knowing it's what you really really want! here are some reasons to go: -you want the fast paced creative environment -you want the constant dialogue around your work/ -you want the opportunities that a school can give (opportunities in research, to learn techniques, networking, etc) -you want the strong community -you want to teach -you want to work with certain faculty members (a dangerous one in my opinion, because no one can predict what any given person can teach you!) good luck ultimately i hope you find the best path for your work!

Congratulations zaquon!!! It seems that many times waitlisted applicants who reapply dont get in, so it makes me particularly happy for you that you did!! Hope for everyone else not to give up

Oh man, yeah, the time difference has been killing me too. I spend all morning checking my email relentlessly, even though I know its still night time in the US! Expected upenn rejection. Cant believe its the middle of the week already!
-
Mount Royal is the name of the program....! It's the interdisciplinary MFA.
-
my heart skipped a beat at the email from Joan Weston at UPenn, even though they told me they decided to only accept students they interviewed this year!
-
Omg! Congrats!! MICA is such a great school.
-
It was sent to everyone. I'm glad it feels that way to you womp_womp, and it should, UCSD is a great program! at this point a new rejection doesn't surprise me and it's a relief to just know.... but it still hurts a little
-
I was JUST about to agree Tysonr2, when I received a rejection email from Rutgers....
-
Did everyone else who interviewed at SAIC just get the scholarship email? Come on, SAIC, tell us yes or no before you send us that kind of thing....
-
I'm sorry sguid! But it doesn't seem over yet for you. I know how you are feeling though. and sorry about UCLA Jane890, but congratulations on Columbia, and good luck with your interview, if it hasn't happened yet. The silence is defeaning. Quit playing with our emotions, schools!
-
Long list! If you do a search in this topic for each school, you will find what others have posted about it. Hunter, Columbia, USC have called for interviews, someone was accepted at UCLA, same for SVA. It also depends on the discipline.

the silence is killing me.

when is your wedding cxxxxxx? I am engaged too. that's so frustrated that they aren't cooperative. i know from experience that across-the-atlantic-long-distance is hard, but survivable! tysonr2, I agree, I think it's a subject that affects a lot of people. ol'spice, I want to agree, but i'm not sure I could stomach 9 rejections at once!
-
Welcome Yankease! My SO will be moving with me wherever I end up too (if anywhere .. ), and I know the process can be very taxing on him too. Good luck! And thanks for sharing her stats. Happy monday everyone. I know that others who are still waiting must be as impatient as I am for the silence to end.

NYU has one of the politest rejection letters I've seen.
-
Haha sympatico, so true.

oh thanks for sharing mlo, I'm very into this. another long day of waiting ahead...
-
Ohh yes, i got that response too, last year. I dont think these comments came with bad intentions, but that doesnt make them what i want to hear! Congratulationssss OutWest!!! Im so happy for you :)

At least you dont run the risk of being told at an interview "your job sounds so interesting, dont you think you might profit from sticking with it for a few years?"

I like this attitude. It's all about hard work and perseverance in the end. If we suppose that by beginning of april we all have our answers, does that mean that with every new day the probability of hearing back increases? I should hear back from schools every 2 days on average until the end of march... any one else get lost in useless rationalizations of a process that is completely illogical? happy thursday everyone <3
