  1. When is your phone interview? From what I remember when I went through last years forum they just asked a few questions such as why you wanted to go to penn. Good luck!
  2. I'm with you guys. Congratulations to the Penndesign, Massart and Calarts finalists !
  3. Hi and welcome! If you read back, you will see that Song asked the same kind of thing, and general opinion was that in person was worth it if you are serious about the school and can afford it.

  17. Agreed! Thanks Sculptor. I want the week to start so that there can be a chance of hearing back from somewhere! Sunday is making me impatient. Although I guess in the US there is the superbowl to keep everyone entertained tonight..
  18. I think what's wrong with the first one, is that the person telling you that "you will get in" doesnt actually know that you will get in somewhere. If getting in nowhere is something you are worried about, hearing that from someone who doesn't really know anything about the process isn't helpful. It's like it's unbelievable to them that someone could get rejected everywhere, while you know it's possible. and there is a time to accept that your dream school isn't where you are meant to be, but after you were just rejected, if it's a place you really really loved and wanted to go to, someone telling you that "you weren't meant to go there" doesn't make you feel better (or at least not me). I agree that the school knows better. But in the process of applying to a school, you invest a lot of work into the schools, and also a lot of projecting yourself there, i mean typically people apply to places with very strong reasons why they want to go! So there has to be a mourning period. But then again, if you don't feel the same way, that's probably better. You must have been easier to talk to during the waiting period!

  20. No i didnt get an email either! I just assumed they got there safely. And sorry! I didn't want to terrify you..did you apply for painting?
  21. ah i'm just glad i'm not alone! I haven't been taking it as a reflection of my work, more as a reflection of my application, which I know I shouldn't, if I look at things in a level-headed manner. but sometimes feelings are just feelings.
  22. yup. I see that you also applied to slade? glad to see that you haven't heard back either! last year interviews were sent out on the 3rd, so its possible we will soon hear...

    MFA at 47?

I don't know much about funding there, but MECA in portland, maine is a really great little school. the art scene in portland in general, although not comparable to one you may find in a big city, is very energetic. You should go visit the school on a first friday and see it for yourself!
  24. Thanks to both of you, gahh and faech for your encouraging words. This is my second year applying, so yeah I should know better than to let it affect me. last year I talked to the admissions department at MICA a lot about the whole process, and I understand that it's not a reflection of us. The way you describe it Faech, as a puzzle, is very accurate to how they explained it. But that's my rational, logical side that understands that. The other part of me can't stop from worrying about being rejected everywhere. Just have to be patient i guess.
