your work is fascinating!

Mick, from reading forums from other years, from my own experience and from the experience of other people I know, when you reapply to a school you were wait-listed at the previous year, you don't even make it to the second round! In my case I think my application was stronger than last year's, but the selection process factors (the current grad students, what they are looking for, what kind of work other applicants make) change every year. Maybe you know of someone who had the opposite experience? That would be comforting. At this juncture, I would only say to people who don't get off the waitlist to reapply if it's a school they love (i did) but not to get their hopes up. ps: Have a great weekend everyone! Hope next week brings us more clarity

In my opinion, when programs are very competitive with so few spots you should be proud of making the waitlist. think of it this way, hundreds of people apply, they really like the works of 15 people but only have 10 spots, if you are on the waitlist you could be choice 11, definitely not the last choice and still something to be proud of! congratulations, and good luck! also: if you get off the waitlist, you have the exact same opportunities at the school as their first pick! it doesn't change anything!

totally makes me feel better; that's the great thing about this forum, increased awareness that others are going through the same thing. and congrat caus for UMD!

caus, how did you hear for UCSD? email? letter? i'm assuming mine is on its way...
-
congratulations!

Interesting! Is this similar to postbacc programs? Congratulations in any case! Edit: I did a postbacc year and learned so much.

I will be there! And yes, there is an "Interview Weekend Reception" with profs, students and an open bar (it said so in the interview details email).
-
I don't think this is very considerate of people who haven't heard from any schools! You should be proud of getting those interviews, congratulations, and its great you have the opportunity to travel to your interviews. I'm sure most candidates wouldn't think it "sucks" if they were asked to interview at hunter. good luck!

thanks for participating new-comers and congrats on the interviews! monday! according to last year's forum the last week of february comes with a wave of news. i'm SO anxious. hoping that amidst the inevitable rejections there is some good news for everyone.
-
congratulations okmeow! what do you want to know about the program? you should be excited, it's a great school.

More than that, the same school could be interested in your work one year, and not feel it the next. I think that there is definitely a good amount of luck of the draw that goes into all of these decisions. The school's viewpoint changes every year, it depends so much on who the current students are and what kind of work the other applicants do. Congratulations Womp_womp on UCSD!

Yes I got it too, and unfortunately I think it is an all-program email, and for those of us who haven't heard from certain programs yet (such as hoffberger) it doesn't mean anything new or positive. That said, I'd be happy to be wrong

I don't know if anyone else applied there, but my application was just declined by Royal College of Art.

Applying to as many as I did was exhausting and expensive. But after applying last year and only getting waitlisted, its what I wanted to do for this year. I dont think there is any right way to do it. some people only apply to 2 schools and get into the school of their dreams, others apply to 10 schools they love and are rejected everywhere. I think we are all second guessing our process because of how nerve wrecking it is to wait. I mean I'm anxious too and I applied to so many! In the end all that matters is that you applied to schools you are really excited about. Waiting is hard, but hopefully it will work out!

I think these are really interesting! Cool work.

Thanks for joining in! The earliest anyone heard from USC last year was early March (the 5th). I don't know for UCLA new genres.
