Yeah, neither is remotely close to being finished. I might start being concerned next Tuesday.

I think I'm in the running for an acceptance or waitlist here. But it's also one of the best African-American concentrations in the country, so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't come off. Would be nice to have another NYC-area option.

BTW, I hate these kinds of arguments... can't we just read and write w/o having to go through this "GRAND STATE OF LITERATURE/HUMANITIES" conversation? It makes my head hurt.

So yeah, I can't recommend Bullet Park by John Cheever... I think his short stories are better.

When I got my voicemail about Amherst, it said "Missed Call: ###-###-#### MA, USA." So there I am thinking, "Okay... this could be Amherst, Harvard, or Tufts and I will FREAK OUT AND SCREAM IF IT IS ANY OF THEM BUT ESPECIALLY IF IT'S HARVARD." It was Amherst, which is still awesome.

If you do get in and you go to some prospective student thing, do not miss any of those places. Especially Charlie's. Great jukebox, good selection of beers, an 11 dollar lobster roll (worth every penny), and awesome greasy cheeseburgers. Sub waffle fries. Yeah... oh man. If I get into ANY Boston school I am going back. ...except CUNY is amazing. So confused...

If I get into Harvard, I will be at Shay's, Grendel's, and Charlie's Kitchen on infinite loop for 5-7 years. EDIT: and Berryline.

I think as soon as accusations of illiteracy and not belonging in the discipline entered into here, everyone's ears closed to a real debate. Thanks gradcafe trolls! There are so few of you, but you make everyone else look like angels!
