Applied with a 3.26 gpa and years of experience, got in. However, despite a scholarship, it would have meant taking out $50k a year in loans; hence, I am at Salem State.

I'm in my first semester at Salem State and am happy. At an intern thing last week, I learned there were two BC students at my placement agency. The amount I pay for placement as opposed to what they pay....Field work is great, plus you can get work study for placement.

Thanks all! Got the day off after all.

My program's orientation is next week. I asked for the day off work, but might not get it. The school says the orientation is mandatory, so I worry that missing it will start me off on the wrong foot. Thoughts?

My plan is to leave August 1. I want to stay on as a relief worker at my job, so that is incentive for me to be positive.

My interview with field placement person was great! I really liked her, and I am super stoked about the idea of a placement. Now, I just wait for an agency to contact me. (yeesh, this whole deal is waiting, isn't it)

Thanks!

Hey crew, Meeting with the field placement office at my school tomorrow. Any tips?

Salem State University for me.

Salem State.

Why it;s so much easier to advise other people on their choices than your own?
-
Congrats! You still going to Michigan?

In at Salem State!

What do you wish you had asked current students about?

Oh good grief, you poor thing!

I've seen this issue come up on a few different threads, so I thought I'd give my two cents. I am currently concerned about how I will pay for my MSW. I have long known that this is an expensive proposition. As such, I have set a personal cap of the amount of loans I am taking out to fund this venture. I have done research on income based repayment and loan forgiveness. I LOVE Heather Jarvis, the person I liked to, as a student loan resource. Thing is, I really don't want to either pay off loan for a really long time, nor gamble on the decisions of lawmakers to fund my higher education. I have applied for assistantships, I am looking at residence life jobs, but my final decision will probably be financially driven.

I am interviewing for an assistantship Friday. If I take the admission campus tour while I am there, will people think it's silly? Anyone else done this thing?
-
This means that they must have made a decision. Just me? And no, they hadn't.

They're hoping to have things wrapped up by the end of this week.

I was in much the same boat as you. Three weeks after I submitted my application, I was rejected. I loved their program. While I was less than impressed with how I found out (PDF attachment was MissH rejection), I was impressed with their office. I emailed them right after my rejection-there is another MissH who has a school in common with me. At that school they had mixed up our gPa's. As such, I asked them to double check that all transcripts were mine, which they did. I think you should hear soon.

For me, Field education is a biggie in my plans. The 24 hours at Simmons would sway me there.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks so much! (I'm out of up votes, or I would upvote this post)

Anyone have any thoughts on Springfield? I went to Smitb undergrad, and love the 5 college area. I am seriously thinking of attending Springfield College, but my Springfield experience has been the bus station and my one visit to campus.

((hugs)). You must be tearing your hair out.
