  1. LOL! I emailed my sister today telling her I needed an intervention... Must. stop. checking. email...UGH
  2. My application went in for review on 1/20... I feel like it's been three months that they have been looking at it. Just tell me already!!!!!
  3. LOL. My solution? I've started spring cleaning a season early... Ha! Yeah, I forget that when people ask how I'm doing that I'm just supposed give the generic "I'm fine" and wait till I get home to tell the folks on GradCafe the truth. lol
  4. This is the best. lmfao Geez... Yesterday someone asked me what applying to grad school was like and I replied, "It's hell...like a living nightmare." And then there was a really awkward silence and we just drank our beers. Sigh....
  5. Do I know that Penn doesn't make decisions at midnight? Yes. Do I still continually check my status anyway? Absolutely.
  6. Congrats!!! UCLA is also one of my top choices. I can't wait to hear from them. I'm excited that they are getting back to people so soon!! My supervisor just bought this book for me and gave it to me with a little note thanking me for my hard work and also wrote something about needing to take a break...So, yeah. I guess I have been letting the crazy show at work.
  7. Congrats!!!! LOL I have to laugh too. It's getting pretty ridiculous at this point. I love all of the support from you guys. It's been keeping me relatively sane. Yay!!! Good luck!
  8. I officially had my first nightmare last night that I didn't get accepted anywhere. Ugh....
  9. Anyone know who just got the acceptance to Penn's Education, Culture, and Society program? My application just went for review to the same program and I'm still waiting for news.
  10. This is good to know. Thanks for sharing!
  11. Good point. lol Not the best example since research experience is so important... I guess the overall message is what hitomimay pointed out- you really have to communicate why you have the desire to go into education and address the lack of experience by highlighting your strengths and emphasizing fit in a really strong SOP. -- Best of luck SnowKat!
  12. ^^ Yes!! I was writing the same thing! lol Love the group we have going here. You all are definitely helping me get through the "waiting game." Positive vibes to everyone. I love the fact that I have a group to turn to that really understands what I'm going through. I'm also cheering for all of you!
  13. Awesome! Thanks for the laugh.
  14. Yep, this is true. If you were applying to a Chem program that 3.9 would win hands down, but in Ed experience is key. If this cycle doesn't pan out, you may consider getting some experience in Education (volunteer, intern, etc) to improve your app next season. It's early. Don't worry just yet. Best of luck!!!

Hey, I wouldn't worry just yet. Many schools are still batching their apps together and don't update until the end. So, many emails that you receive are automatic. Wait a week and check your status online. If you're really freaked out, call the admissions office. Good luck!
  16. Litjust- I just noticed your interview invite to Emory! Congrats!!!! Keep us posted.
  17. Good luck!!!!! I keep checking my status on every website even though PhD's haven't gotten their news yet. Sigh... Hate the waiting.
  18. ^^ Great advice, thank you! I think I'm going to contact a recruiter this week and get more info on the process. I've always wanted to do PC, but it never seemed like the right time. I figured that if I didn't get in this cycle that it might be a "sign" that I should do it. You've given me a lot to think about...
  19. Thanks! I actually applied to the Teaching and Learning program. Nervous... Best of luck to you!!
  20. Thanks, lilgreycells! Good luck! I can't wait to hear all about your weekend. That might be very necessary between Feb-March. Ugh...the waiting. I'm on the couch with a cold and a big cup of tea. Sometimes snow days have perfect timing...
  21. Well, I know that I would still have to get accepted, but I was wondering how the overall experience was in the program. Just considering my options right now... The Peace Corps recommends that applications be submitted 9-12 months before anticipated departures. So, that would coincide with my original Fall grad school plans if I applied now. But I don't know anyone who has ever participated in the program... Can you tell me more about your experience??
  22. I just noticed that decisions were made in mid Feb. Eek! Now to worry endlessly for the next three weeks...
