  1. There's another one now. Another admit. I'm officially giving up and calling myself a reject
  2. Congratulations Anthroapp Are you definitely going there? Is it your top choice? Anyway, that's amazing I hope it's not a bad sign that we haven't received an email yet...
  3. It might be the person who got an interview last week. Maybe they were particularly impressive and had an early acceptance. I don't think the person on the phone would have told you something wrong. Good luck... And hopefully we'll get emails in two weeks!
  4. No... I thought you said mid-February? Anyway, I refreshed my email and there's nothing for me Maybe they're not accepting everyone at the same time? Or maybe we're out (although I don't want to give up just right now...)
  5. If it's archaeology you'd like to do, it would be good to experience digging before committing to it. Fieldwork is a very important part of what we do. It's tough work and several people are disillusioned. A fieldschool would be the best way but if you have problems finding money, here's what I could recommend: -applying to sources of funding in your university to go to a fieldschool. That's what I did last summer and managed to take part in an excavation project in Belize for a month (for free!) Coming from Europe, and with the flights and all that, I can tell you I wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. -find a project that is not going to cost you $2000. I've talked to American students and I get the feeling that you guys always have to pay to go digging. It's not the case in Europe. I've been digging in several projects, for free. Of course the problem with you would be the flights, to get you to Europe. Feel free to send me a message. I'm happy to help What sort of archaeology are you most interested in, and which part of the world? Obviously any experience would be good to take if you haven't dug before.
  6. Congratulations and best of luck with your Yale interview!
  7. Hey Thepoetsdaughter, are you the one who posted about a Brown interview? It looks like someone got one, as seen in the results survey. I didn't know that they did interviews. I didn't get any email. Should I take this as a bad sign (and forget about Brown)?
  8. Hey Rowlf, check out the results board, someone just got an interview for Duke!
  9. I'm not sure, if you applied with the GRADSAF form then it's probably the Board of Graduate Studies too. February, or March at the latest seems sensible. Funding wise, it may take a bit longer. I'll let you know if I hear anything (believe me, I'm going to investigate).
  10. Dear Laurenmae, Your stats seem fine, don't worry. Grad school is not as competitive in England as it is in the States. You're definitely not wasting your time! (source: I study in England)
  11. I'm applying for Phds too. My subfield is Archaeology. I am going mad with this whole process. The odds are against me (too young, and international) so I'm pretty sure to face 4 rejections. I just want to get these letters as soon as possible so I can move on with my life...
  12. It made me freak out too. Especially since I'm applying to the same school for the same course. If it's real, it probably isn't a good omen for me. But, it looks fairly real, since they posted their stats and all that? I don't know if I can still hope anymore...
  13. Go to Home in the left hand panel. Then go to the bottom of that 'Home' page. After the 7 numbered items you can click on "continue to financial aid". click on the title itself, and there you go... This will open a new form. Good luck! I hope you'll get this message on time.
