Hi, thanks a lot my friends. My nomination is successful. Actually, the conditions are quite good, and it comes in the form of offer. I have to say "yes" or "no", most probably, I will accept the offer

I do not like such ranking lists. I think the rankings should be done on the basis of departments (e.g. political science, philosophy, medicine)...

I heard back from several programmes at York but I have no idea about the department of Economics. However, most generally, when York says the decisions will be made between Mar-May, it will possibly be in May, they have no hesitation to do the things in the latest instance.

Actually, I applied two programs at York. You are right that the admissions office of the university is really a mass. In most cases, it is impossible to contact them, essentially it is very difficult for international applicants. However, for both of the programmes that I applied, I could say that they replied all of my e-mails. And PhD program coordinators in Environmental Studies and in Social and Political Thought sent very sincere answers to my e-mails. Indeed, PhD coordinator in Environmental Studies is a very helpful person and I asked him several questions during whole application process. The case for Social and Political Thought is different. I had never contacted the program coordinator. However, in the late March, I asked him the situation of applications. 10 days later, he sent me an e-mail and said that the committee met on the previous day, and my application was waitlisted. So, there could be two possibilities in your case. The first one, the committee has not decided on your file yet. The second one, they are waiting for an international student scholarship (like Trillium). They should contact you in the coming weeks. But, it is better to contact some professors with whom you would like to work. There is a professor called Anna M. Agathangelou in the program. She is a very helpful person, you may send her an e-mail and ask "Dear Professor, I applied for the PhD programme in ..................... and I am still waiting for a decision. Do you know anything about the final decisions of the committee? I would very happy to be in touch with you in the process." I hope this will work.

I couldn't manage it well. So, even though I am in, I have an intensive neck ack for more than one week.

If there is a POI that you are in touch, you may send her/him an e-mail.

I accepted the offer of York. This means that I won't go for McMaster's Political Science. So, there will be one more spot for the waiting visa students.

Hi, I received the financial package from York. It is 21.600 CAD per year for 5 years and 3.000 CAD for the first year as an entrance scholarship. And there is 1.600 CAD per term in the form of international tuition fee reduction. I still have to pay tuition, but I do not know how much I am going to pay...

Thank you very much for the responses. Yes, it is most generally said that the award is $40.000 per year but nobody knows that this award will cancel or not my regular funding supplied by the department should I be admitted for it. Finally, I have only be nominated, it is not sure, the committee of faculty of graduate studies at York will decide it. I just heard that York will still offer a portion of funding, but I do not know what will be the form of it. If it will only be the remaining 1/3, it may not be good since normally York offers funding for 6 years but this award is for 4 years. Who knows anyone who has already been accepted for this scholarship?

Hi, my faculty has nominated me for this scholarship. It seems very prestigious. But, the information about this scholarship is very limited on the internet. Is there anyone who has any idea about this funding?

Thank you very much. I will make my decision in a few days but most probably York will be my choice.

That is really a good topic. For the first acceptance; due to the difference of time I was at home and watching TV. It was at 11.30 p.m., I just thought that I should go to my room to check my e-mails. I signed in my gmail account and two minutes later than it, the e-mail came from York's Env. Studies PhD program director. The director says "congratulations, the committee unanimously recommends you for admission". When I saw that sentence I suddenly started to cry with happiness The second one. Again due to the difference of time (I am in Turkey and applied for Canadian Schools) It was at 10.30 p.m. I have a f.ck buddy, and we met on that day. After a dinner in a restaurant, we went to her home. We continued to drink some beers (as we did during the dinner), then at 10.30 p.m. I just thought that I did'nt check my e-mails for more than 5 hours. I checked my e-mails via my phone and it is written that McMaster's faculty of graduate studies sent me an e-mail (it was sent at 10.20 p.m.) with the subject line "admission to McMaster", then I opened the e-mail and all the details could be found on it. I became very happy and confident after that since this was my second acceptance. So, you cannot imagine what happened between my f. buddy and me after that great news
