i've had a very similar experience. That, and the fact that both my parents have been teachers (father a college professor, mother an early-childhood educator) had a large influence on this decision. Intellectual parents taught me to read and question, and also that the best way to learn anything is to teach it. It's all been momentum and passion from there.

This used to happen at my undergrad quite frequently. People would wander in off the streets with paintings they'd found in Grandma's attic and were convinced were priceless Old Masters, looking for a professor to give them an appraisal. They would promptly be shown the door. Go pay an appraiser to look at your great-uncle's crazy doodles! We're not Antiques Roadshow, people!!!

After much discussion with the husbeast, we've decided that we'll throw what he calls a 'Do It Big Party.' Hot tub suite, chocolate fountain, buffet, and 10 of our craziest friends. And massages.

Bonus points for knowing the difference between the little death and orgasm! And good luck with the wedding planning. We did a homemade DIY wedding because we're broke, but it turned out to be amazing and gorgeous. Two years later, people are still talking about it. We did homemade invitations, homemade dresses, my mom & aunties grew all the flowers, we had the ceremony on my parents' lawn, i did all the decorating, flower arranging, etc. We managed to bring in a wedding with 300 guests for under $5,000 (and most of that cost was the food & beer.) It can be done!
