NOT EVEN ONE ACCEPTANCE YET? LETS VENT HERE!!

Congrats! See you August 21st, 22nd! -
ENMU does not have a fully online program, but its very close to it. It requires one full semester(your first) on campus and then you have the option to do the rest online. I think I should hear back this week if I will get a spot off the wait list or be rejected off of it.
-
Well it looks like since you didn't get a rejection letter in the mail this past weekend that your still on the wait list! So there's still a good chance I would think! I got my rejection letter saturday.
-
Welp, I got the official rejection from Idaho State's Waitlist today.
-
For those of us who are waiting on some schools wait list still, lets name the schools and talk about our thoughts and hopes of maybe getting off a certain schools wait list, etc. Personally I am wait listed at 3 schools still, ENMU, Idaho State and Fort Hays. Fort Hays has notified me that I am on the extended wait list if anyone drops before the first day of school. Idaho State has sent out 2 rounds of acceptances and cut the wait list this week by sending out rejections and as of today I did not get a rejection in the mail. And Eastern New Mexico I was told if a few people decline the 2nd round of acceptance(they have until May 12th to accept) then I would get an acceptance.

Congrats!

Withdrawing From a Program...
twinguy7 replied to futureslp88's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
All directors I have talked to know that it is very typical for many accepted students to withdraw and even as late as August as was stated above. They are all very nice about it as they know it happens every year. -
this is how I explained my LOW GPA in my Statement Letter: I was a 2.0 student with no ambition (2005-2009) before finding a major and career path that I was interested in. Change can be hard. I had to learn to love school and love learning, but with effort, determination and perseverance I developed into a 3.3-3.4(2010-2013) student whose lowest grades stem from 2 online classes(C and B-) and a class where I missed an assignment coupled with an ankle injury (C-Spring 13'). Hope that helps

SLP GRAD SCHOOL HOPES~DREAMS~GUESSES THREAD
twinguy7 replied to twinguy7's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
how did everyone else's HOPES, DREAMS and GUESSES go??? -
Like the others have said, research programs and find those programs that look at your last 60 units GPA and your CSD GPA only. If you apply to those programs you should have a better shot. I have one of the lowest GPA's, Last 60 GPA, CSD GPA's on this site that I know of and I was accepted to 2 schools and 3 wait lists. You will do well as long as you put in the work to research programs and do well on LOR's and interviews, etc.

Exactly, Thats why their is no cohort format or structure as to how long their program takes. Priority goes to those with seniority.

Who is going to Fort Hays State University?

SLP GRAD SCHOOL HOPES~DREAMS~GUESSES THREAD

Wow, I totalyl forgot about this thread. I guess my dream of one acceptance and some wait lists has been realized! I am still hoping to come off of Idaho State's or FHSU's wait list, but am content with GVSU! -
I got a letter in the mail from valdosta last week with the rejection. Has your portal changed at all?

not working for me either

What I did was just start on the "U.S. rankings of schools" and started with the lowest ranked school and checked their website for info on GRE, GPA, Tuition, Etc. and emailed the program coordinator for that school asking for information that I could not find. I set up a chart of like 10 questions and filled out the info I could find on their website and asked them to verify and fill in any missing items. I then followed up each returned email with a straight forward email about my GPA, GRE scores and my experience and asked what I could do to improve my application to their school for the following year and most importantly... IF they had admitted someone last year with my similar GPA, GRE and experiences. The email back after that 2nd email helped me decide if I would apply to that school or not. The directors were straight forward and would tell me if I would be competitive in their application pool. Another piece of advice is to make sure that the schools you apply to truly believe that you want to go to their school. If schools think that they are your back up school, they will reject you even if you have competitive stats and experience. Hope that helps some!

Sorry to hear about CSUN. To tell you the truth, it is my undergrad and it is not a very good program. There is no structure to the Grad program as you can tell on their website. You are not guaranteed classes. So don't be sad about CSUN. Good luck on those last 2!!!
-
thanks! And yea, really study out the programs. Email the directors starting in May! Good luck! And thanks everyone else for the support. It's been a loooong week traveling but me and my wife are almost back to California and just heard back from my last school, CSUN(my undergrad). Rejection! We want to move from the Los Angeles area so we are relieved all of our possibilities are outside of California! Congrats to others who are getting off of wait lists or hearing good news and keep the faith if you are still waiting! It will all be worth it in the end!

Woke up this morning to my 2nd Acceptance! Jackson State University, Crazy! Never thought I'd even have one, but not 2 acceptances and 3 wait lists!
-
For those of you accepted or wait listed at Fort Hays, I visited the school yesterday with my wife. The school is a nice clean campus made up of bigger yellow stone blocks. The Herndon clinic is nice and Dr. Britten is the nicest guy. The professors are all nice and their doors are always open. The school has decent student and family housing at a great price! Includes utilities AND laundry! The immediate area around the school is made up of older homes, but once you get out about more than a half mile there are many more newer homes and apartments. The town has many fast food places, a Wal-Mart, and 2-3 Kroger grocery stores. There is also a movie theatre and bowling alley. The people of the town are the nicest people I've probably ever met. It was really surprising how nice they are to complete strangers. If anyone has further questions feel free to PM me! I will be visiting GVSU tomorrow so for those who'd like too know more about the city and program you can PM me tomorrow about it. Also will be visiting ENMU on Friday for those who want some feedback about the school and city.
