I just know that Idaho State told me that if accepted that I could apply for the WRGP tuition rate after acceptance. -

Your husband and I seem to have a lot in common! lol I started community college in 2001, several withdrawals and a few repeated classes @ comm college(finally got serious and finished in 2011) and then didn't get my B.A. until 2013. -

Reviewing old material before starting grad school
twinguy7 replied to Papaya91's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I was just thinking the same thing! I graduated last May, but I still have ALL of my CSD notes on my IPAD so I plan on going over those starting tonight to refresh for an interview next Thursday. But it will be good to maybe go over one page of notes a day because I bet there has to be like 150+. As far as therapy, I am currently an SLP for charter schools so I'm comfortable with that part of it. -
@ krcgator my brief description of my C and B- were as follows: I was a 2.0 student before finding a passion for Speech Pathology and getting back into school and in my last 3 years of school raised my overall GPA to 2.77 with only one B-(online class) and one C(sports injury/missed assignment). It was something to that effect. I was told it shows ownership and the committee is not left to think you just did not understand the material for a class by getting a C. Now they know I got a C because of a missed assignment and not because I did average for the entire class.

I agree, I've been told that it shows good character and self evaluation skills when you can recognize a mistake and take ownership of it. I would let FSU know in the future(if you do end up with a C) what caused the C and tell them how hard you worked to keep that from being less than a C and you should be fine. In my statement letters I briefly described why I received one C and one B- in my CSD courses and I think it helped.

Application Anxiety Thread

Hope things get better! You applied to a lot of schools so there is bound to be better news ahead! -
The pumpkin cookies are even easier to make and good for you(well the pumkin part at least). 1 pkg spice cake mix 1 15oz. can of any pumpkin filling(the cans you see around thanksgiving time) 1 pkg chocolate chips(can also make without if you want) Mix the 3 ingredients together and scoop spoon sized lumps onto a cookie sheet lined with tin foil. Bake @ 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes! MMMmmmmmmm!

Hello, My name is mike and like Sayjo, I am an old married Hag. I am 31 years old and have been married to my smart, beautiful and loving wife for almost 3 1/2 years now. Can you believe that when she started dating me I was not in school, had no job and did not even know what a SLP was!? I credit my wife and her loving example as the reason I have a Bachelors degree today. It was 6 months after we started dating that I got back into school and did not stop for 3 years straight until I got my bachelors degree in Communication Disorders in May, 2013. ( my wife has a bachelors in Biology and finishes her 2nd bachelors in Nursing in August). Before learning of the SLP profession I had many experiences that prepared me for the profession. After high school I served a 2 year mission for my church(LDS) in Brazil(Goiania to be exact) where I learned Portuguese by total immersion. (Então, eu e a Gaby podemos falar em português e ninguém poderão saber o que estamos dizendo . Brincadeira! Esse seria mal!) Once I returned home to southern Califonia I was able to pick up Spanish by talking with friends and co-workers since the languages are very similar. I was originally going to be an elementary school teacher because I love kids(I have 30+ nieces and nephews). I eventually learned of a SLP and realized how it fit me even better since it had somewhat to do with languages and still involved working with kids. Since graduating in May I have been fortunate enough to pick up a part time job in Nuerotherapy, working with kids, teens and adults with ADD, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety Disorder, etc and also a part time job as a SLP(credential waiver) for charter schools in the Los Angeles area. Just want to add that all of you are great and and are great examples to me and to others with your love and support of each other. I appreciate all of the support and advice! . I know we will all grow from this crazy application season experience and go on to be great SLP's or whatever other course we may follow in our lives. Good luck to all of you! .

Sorry to hear about that SweetPea21... But yes, The Lord has a plan for us all It just makes us streeeetch and grow more when it's not what we were hoping for or expected. you got 7 more to hear back from! This application process is a daily roller coaster! I guess we just should accept that and sit back and enjoy the ride(or journey as you put it)
-
Thanks @ eaf88! I think with the number of programs you applied to and the time you dedicated to yourself and your applications will definitely pay off! And I can't agree with you anymore about the roller coaster the application season is. In the same day I found out I was rejected from one school and about 2 hours later I get an email for an interview for another. It's crazy!
