  1. Sent you a private message!
  2. Thanks to all of you for your responses! ZeChocMoose, it matters to the extent that many of the available courses are designed to be generally applicable to both K-12 and Higher Education, including required core courses like Organizational Studies. Plus, it's not just the course content but also the classmates and fellow cohort members that may be drastically different, given the mixture of K-12 and Higher Ed people. I do believe that this can actually be a good thing, as higher education does not exist in a bubble, but it makes POLS different than most other higher ed programs from what I have gathered.
  3. Decision deadline looming so I'm open to receiving any feedback from you all. I'm undecided between Stanford POLS and HGSE Higher Education. Harvard offered me slightly more grant aid but I much prefer Stanford's location for superficial (much nicer weather) and personal reasons (much closer to family, who I have been away from since 2008). The main difference is that POLS includes a K-12 and Higher Education concentration under one program umbrella and features a final research project while Harvard is Higher Ed-specific and has no final culminating paper or assignment. Harvard seems to offer more paid internship opportunities and is an older, more established program. If I am interested in pursuing a PhD somewhere down the future, how much of a benefit would it be to have the POLS project on my CV as part of my master's work? Anything else I should consider? Thanks for your help!
  4. Also trying to figure out what an impact award is, as there doesn't seem to be any information available online.
  5. I'm in the same boat and also a San Diego native! Were you able to attend UCLA's preview day? I was not able to attend and I have not been able to get as strong a feel for UCLA's program as other schools. I like that it seems more practioner-based than other programs and that paid work is a central component.
  6. Any POLS admits here? The SUSE thread is awfully quiet. I keep going back and forth in my decision process and I was wondering what others were thinking. My concentration would be higher education. I'm most interested in student affairs/admissions work and am unsure if a more practitioner-oriented student affairs/college personnel program would be better for someone like me with limited work experience.
  7. I was waitlisted by Stanford last year. By the time they got back to me with a final decision, I already had to commit to another program. I was not STEP though, but ICE. Things might be different based on program.
  8. I'd also love to hear about UCLA's Student Affairs Open House. I was admitted but could not attend. Any information and your egneral impression would be greatly appreciated!
  9. I received my acceptance to the M.S.Ed Higher Ed program on the 17th. Very surprised to know my result so quickly! My application was complete in November.
  10. Accepted, Macau ETA, notified April 20th. Switching to e-mail notifications seems to have moved up the notification date for Hong Kong/Macau.
