U.Va basically said what another poster here had already said. There is still hope, but they can only offer a few spots due to funding and are waiting to hear back from those who they've made offers to. The coordinator said "the wait list is very limited." I think this means that they don't put many people on it at a time? I haven't been wait-listed but she's telling me to have hope, so that's where I'm getting my interpretation from. She also said she'll be marking rejections on the website around the end of March.

**And also asked that if I choose to accept elsewhere or withdraw my application, to mark it on the application website. For those who have already decided to accept offers at other schools regardless of what their response is from Virginia (if they haven't heard from them yet), it might be helpful you indicated that on the application so the list of those awaiting responses will shrink and those of us who are still waiting might hear a bit quicker. Just a thought!

Caved and emailed Harvard and U.Va. We'll see what they have to say. I'm assuming rejections from both given that successful applicants seem to have been notified already.

I'm not sure, the final decision is of course up to you. However, some info that might be helpful ... I see you're from Tennessee and I'm not sure how much you know about Toronto, perhaps you've done your research already. As someone who has lived near Toronto all my life and with many friends that currently live there, I'll give you a heads up that it is a very expensive city to live in. So, on top of funding considerations, you might want to take into account how expensive it is to live in the various cities in which you might be studying. www.numbeo.com is pretty good for doing comparisons of cost of living. Hope this is helpful

I didn't want to post on here until I got second confirmation but I was the one who got the Harvard admit in Religion, Gender, Culture subfield. Still no word on funding and the like, just two POIs sending me congratulatory emails.

In both of my offer letters thus far it says that they reserve the right to adjust my funding if I receive external awards. I am in the humanities. Mind you, I see you're in California and the schools that have said this to me are Canadian. I know lots of Canadian schools will take internal funding away if you get external but I don't know if they take away the full amount (assuming your external funding matches or exceeds what they were offering) or just part. I have heard - and this is purely hearsay - that because American schools aren't overly familiar with Canadian funding agencies, sometimes they don't bother asking about your other funding and let you hold a Canadian fellowship with internal funding from the American school. Maybe the same applies for Americans coming to Canada? I don't know if that is your situation or not but there are my two cents! No pun intended... although us Canadians did just get rid of our penny this year

Ah ha! I can login to Harvard now too. I wasn't able to earlier. Glad to hear that isn't a sign.

I believe Kleets712 is referring to the results submitted by members of this forum and viewed on the "Results Search" tab on this website, not personal results accessed through UVA's site.

Thanks for the feedback. And thanks for the much needed encouragement theogeek.

Diazalon, I did apply only to one program. Knowing it wasn't the "smartest" decision. I did so so that I wouldn't have to uproot my family to pursue my dreams alone. Also my POI and other Emory incentives made it a much better fit overall.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed until April 15, but still make a better effort to make even more of a personal connection to the program as I already live in Atlanta.
