  1. Not at all. I'm almost sure I just missed 3 questions and had a 164 on quant. Also, in the Powerprep I missed 3 questions on both tests and had 166 on both. The thing is that ETS levels the tests according to the difficulty of the sets that you're getting, so it basically depends on how you do on the first set.
  2. I didn't either. Are you guys applying for MPP?
  3. When do you have the test? When I registered for the TOEFL, I only added my first last name, and I have two. I sent them an email and they replied with instructions on how could I correct it (by sending them a fax with some documents). The thing is that the process takes about 10 days or so.
  4. I'm applying to 6 too, thinking about 7 sometimes when I panic and want to improve my odds. In my case the investment is bigger. As an international student, I had to travel to the US for the GRE, and have to pay for Credential Evaluation Services, which adds $250 for the package, $30 for each university and $70 for every DHL package sent to the US. Visa is having a party on my credit card debts.
  5. It's not rolling at all. The advise is to submit it a while ahead so you don't add the time-pressure variable to the amount of things that could lead you to a dumb mistake. I don't think you get any material advantage from submitting it early or not, it's a matter of personal logistics. In my case, I have been working on it for a while now and given the fact that I'm applying to a lot of different programs, I have set those timelines in order to pace my process in an organized manner.
  6. I applied on October 30th. My personal deadline for all universities is exactly one month before the actual deadline. On several books they recommend applying 2 months early, but it seems really hard given all the material you have to gather.
  7. It will look bad, but I don't think it will lead to a rejection if all your other qualifications are outstanding. If you are on the edge, it may be a deal-breaker.
  8. I also took Kaplan (which were also hard), Manhattan (which were the hardest), Princeton Review and McGraw Hill.
  9. Check this out from the HKS Blog, hope it helps: My resume was 5 pages long, but with only 2-3 lines on the 5th page.
  10. I'm not American either. PEMDAS or BEMDAS: basically the same.
  11. Order of operations question. Remember PEMDAS. After Parenthesis (of which there are none) you have to apply Exponents: 5^2 and THEN apply the -, which can be seen as a -1 Multiplying the 5.
  12. Google Chrome basically fills everything out once you set up an account and ask it to remember the answers. The problem is that every university asks for things in a different way. Why don't you just put everything in a Word document and copy-paste?
  13. Not free, but the Kaplan Vocabulary app is amazing ($5).
  14. Agreed. Kaplan and Princeton Review will help you get a score in the 150-160 range. If you want to score higher, use Manhattan.
  15. They didn't let me take ANYTHING into the room, not even my watch or a small silver amulet I had which is about the size of a penny. I was surprised they let me keep my shirt on... I was able to leave some supplies in a locker, but it took so much time of the 10 minute break to register and sign out and get the picture taken and get the keys and get registered again and open the locker and take things out........... and I didn't even had a watch for tracking time.... So I basically was able to take a zip of water, half eat an apple and go back again.
  16. I think you should retake. Study a lot more, and raise that score at least 5 points. Don't test your luck.
  17. Don't be discouraged, you statistically have the capabilities to pull it off. Practice a lot more, and do it again. I had a friend who on his first test got 144Q and one month later got 159Q on the second one. Take it easy, and study smart.
  18. I'll swap, just PM me. I'm applying for MPP/MPA.
  19. I'm applying for MPP willing to swap review, let me know by PM.
  20. Definitely harder. In Quant there were questions about matters that hadn't been covered at all anywhere and of a difficulty level that I hadn't seen. Some pretty harsh sequences, to be specific. They could have been the experimental section though, and I'm talking about 2-3 questions in the whole test. In Verbal I didn't see any familiar words, and I learned all of the Princeton's Review Hit Parades, the Barron's Essential GRE Words, and Kaplan's Vocabulary. Not to discourage you, learn all the words you can. It seems to be a matter of luck regarding the pool of words you get. Also about the pressure, I didn't feel any. I spent the whole 3 months I studied in expectation of how nervous I would be for the test, but after doing about 18 mock tests, I felt so natural doing the tests as I feel when driving or walking. The only difference was the location. If you take every test seriously (trying to mimic as much as you can the real conditions of the tests, even breaks and food, the pencil and the scratch paper), there is no reason to feel intimidated. It's about the same.
  21. I had 166Q on both Powerprep tests (with 3 wrong in each) and got 164Q in the real one.
  22. Agreed, do not discard her. Ask her directly ! Try to find her in the hallways or something. I am currently in the application process, and sometimes by trying to be very polite or proper, one ends up wasting many opportunities. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Be agressive. Many people see that as a good sign that you will actually fight for what you want.
  23. Those are great scores, congratulations. You'll have no problem at the most competitive programs I think. About the website, you just took the test yesterday. Give it a while. It takes from 7 to 10 days, just as they tell you at the testing center.
  24. I agree with Professor C, right after meeting in person with D and discarding the unlikely event that she hasn't seen any of your requests.
  25. Find another computer for the Powerprep. That's what I did. Go to an internet cafe or something, it actually helps you to practice in an unknown environment and with a computer that's not yours. Those will be the real conditions of the actual test.
