So they just responded and said the next 10 days. That puts me over the 15th if it hits the 10th day. My application can't possibly be taking that long.

So crazy...I really don't understand how they're going about this. It seems other schools are so much more organized, etc.

That is crazy... did you let them know that you absolutely have to hear back by the 15th?

I mentioned that I received two extensions and was told I can't receive anymore and that's all she responded with. That sort of leads me to believe it's a rejection. If they were going to accept me, I feel they would hurry it along so as not to lose out on a potential student. My application can't possibly still be under review when there are people after the priority deadline who have already heard back.

I don't know that that's necessarily true... I'm really sorry they're giving you the runaround, though. If I were you I would call them next week and make sure you mention that you have no choice, that you have to let NYU know by Thursday and that you can't get another extension. That really sucks though. I'm sorry for the way they're treating you.

Yeah, if I don't hear back by Friday then I'll call on Monday. I would respond to the email but I don't think they'll actually give me any information because literally all she said was "you can expect to have your decision within the next 10 days."

Wow yeah that is super off-putting and unhelpful. If worst comes to worst could you send in your deposit to NYU and then back out later? Or has this whole experience soured you on Columbia? (Wouldn't blame you if it had.)

I will most likely still attend if I was accepted. They have the most policy focused program of the schools I applied to so I would still like to go. It just puts me in a tough spot because if it's a rejection then I don't want to miss out on other really good schools. UPenn also gave me until the 15th. I can see if they can give me an extension since I haven't asked for one yet, but I'm still going to miss out on NYU and I haven't really picked between the two yet. They both have factors that combined create what makes Columbia so appealing to me.

Ah yeah that is hard. I really hope Columbia gets back to you in time!

Me too! Maybe they will have a heart and put me out of my misery!

Or maybe you'll be accepted! You never know!

I just got rejected from one of my top choices, so trust me, I know how crappy it would feel... but the good news is, even if that is the outcome, you have other great programs to choose from!

I'm sorry to hear that, but their loss; wherever you end up going will be lucky to have you! And thankfully I do have other great schools to fall back on. I'm glad I didn't put all my faith in just one program.

Thank you, same to you! And yeah, it's disappointing but I feel like in the end the degree itself is what matters, not the name on the diploma (as long as it's an accredited school, of course).

NOOOO  I cant take it anymore!!!!

You could try to call them before they close? They might be slightly annoyed about it though since they're in the middle of a blizzard up there. You were a priority applicant, right? It's so hard to keep track of everyone's status.

Yes priority applicant for 1 year program. I applied 3 days after @JonoDuncan but for the clinical concentration, so i was hoping that would mean i would hear back this week!

Well, you still could... you could also always call them tomorrow or Friday to see where you are in the queue if you don't get an answer tonight or tomorrow night.

I called already last week but didnt specifically ask where i was in the queue... thats a good idea! I can't imagine how many calls they must be getting every day.

Yeah, that's what @patientlywaiting2 did, I believe, and they were able to tell them that they would have an answer by March 23rd. Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but it would probably be better to at least know what's going on.

I know, I was thinking about that, too... something clearly went haywire with this year's admissions. I saw people theorizing that they had less people reading the applications than usual, but I can't remember where I read that or any more detail than that, I'm afraid...

For those of us still in for the long haul, it looks like we've all already gotten into some pretty amazing programs and like my mentor just told me, "while columbia would be the icing on the cake, you still have the cake." Whether we see each other at columbia or are spread out all across the country, I know we're all going to become amazing social workers and achieve many great things! Good luck to you all! I think I'll take a few days off from all this obsessing now?

I called Columbia and asked for an extension to make a decision bc I haven't heard back about FA yet. Pittsburgh gave me a pretty good scholarship for their price so at this point I'm feeling v exasperated w Columbia. I have a friend there who has told me that she wishes she would've gone to Hunter and paid 7k for what probably would've been just as good of an education so that's not helping my mood @ Columbia

That sounds super frustrating. You found out you were accepted quite a while ago, right? I am in a similar boat waiting to hear back about FA from a different school and it's so stressful.

Hey Yall! Im new to this forum but I wanted to add my own notes, I just got off the phone with the admissions office and they told me that in two weeks I should know if im accepted or not. I applied the Feb. 15th deadline. so honestly I think they are just telling everyone 2 weeks even if you were priority or not

Did they say when they would be releasing the FA info?
