TheHessianHistorian Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Some history grad programs list recent years' PhD graduates and what jobs they've ended up in. Is there an easier way to find out which history graduate programs have the best tenure-track job placement rates? Any sort of list or database that compiles this information?
lordtiandao Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 @TMP answered a similar question I had here: You can do it for any professor in a department and see what you get. HistoricScout and dr. t 2
astroid88 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I am also curious about this. Is there any place where the placement data is complied (or someone who has done the work?)?
AP Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Check their websites. That's the only place you have department-to-TT information, if they are willing to publish it.

Yes, there was a study published not too long ago.
grubyczarnykot Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 What @lordtiandao linked upthread is a pretty good resource. You just have to search for potential POIs (I guess you could also just search every faculty member in whatever department) and then google the names of their students. I've actually had really good luck with this method. Otherwise, no, schools would have to publish the data on their websites if it were available at all.
lordtiandao Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Also refer to this study about school prestige and TT placement. Basically more prestigious schools have better placement, with the top 25 schools accounting for 71- 86% of all TT positions placements. http://advances.sciencemag.org/content/1/1/e1400005 psstein and TheHessianHistorian 2
