Good luck to everyone.

Best of luck to everyone else too!

So far I've applied to UC Davis, UCLA, and USC Roski, with a painting and drawing focus, but I do sculpture too.

I got an email from Davis today saying they refunded my application fee. I almost had a heart attack thinking my application was canceled somehow, but kept reading and it said that it was because I was eligible for a fee waiver after all, thank goodness. ? Last year I got an interview request from them on Jan 27th, though, so I'm anxiously checking my emails.

I'm almost finished with SF State, CSULA, and Mills apps, and then I think I'm calling it for this round and just keeping it to California schools probably.

Does anyone have tips on what kind of questions are good to pose to interview committees? I know it's always best to ask them something when given the opportunity, but I tend to blank and worry I'm asking something that could be found online or makes it seem like I didn't research the school enough by asking it.

UC Davis is pretty much funded but you should still ask about funding. Ask them how they've handled the Pandemic, if students still have access to the wood shop, ceramic studio (TB9) and personal studios. Lucy Puls retired this year so I would confirm which faculty will be there and not on sabbatical. I would also ask them if the thesis shows will be online, since the Shrem has been pretty much closed.

Anyone know of MFA programs accepting a smaller cohort this year? (Whether it be due to decreased funding or giving their current cohort an extra year of funding.)

UT Austin is accepting a smaller cohort because their 2020-2021 cohort is staying a third year, due to the pandemic.

Yale is also taking a smaller cohort but I am not sure if it is because of deferrals.

I know this form talking to to people who are in the programs.

Hi! I also applied to ASU in Fiber but haven't heard anything... do you happen to know if all interviews went out? Thanks!

Wow, the anticipation for February seems to keep on building and building. I know my anxiety is at an all time high -_-

Haven't heard back from any of the UC schools but I've applied for Oxford's MFA program, and have an interview next week ? and I am quite nervous. Any tips on how to prepare for an MFA interview?

The waiting game continues. I expect more folks to reply here. Right now I am busy getting ready for the SVA online residency for spring 2021 soon as pretty excited. Very happy to dip more into my sculpture and installation work this year.

Did U of Minnesota say how many students they are accepting? Congratulations!

Thanks for your reply! I watched a really nice zoom presentation + q/a that they did for prospective students, so they went over a lot of stuff already thankfully, but I'll definitely be asking about faculty on sabbatical and the thesis shows if I get an interview!

Bumping this. It’s pretty messed up if universities took our money but were not fully transparent about much smaller acceptance rates of many students deferring or taking leave of absence. The UCLA app alone was $120 and extra writing prompts, only to hear through this forum that there are 2 spots available.

I might follow up and call some of the schools I’ve applied to about this. Will let you guys know.

Hi everyone!

Just thought I’d let people know that UTK has interviewed applicants in the painting department.

Has anyone heard from UArk Painting?

I also interviewed with UTK, have you heard back yet?
