yellowsurf Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 (edited) Hi everyone! I noticed that our other thread, which is normally dedicated to admissions results, is getting busy with discussions. That is totally cool, but moving forward, as admissions are rolling out and people will be wanting to vent and ask personal questions, it might be nice to keep that thread mainly focused on admission results and decisions. So I'm starting a new thread for people to ask questions, get advice, vent, etc. Feel free to continue chatting on the other thread, but I just wanted to provide a place to have possibly off-topic discussions. Hope you all don't mind! (If this is a good idea and gets popular, maybe we can create separate threads for funding questions/advice, venting, etc.? Or at least an idea for the next cycle.) alliecask Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 This thread is a great idea -- how are my fellow Berkeley applicants doing? It's my dream school but also a long shot, at this point I just want a decision (good or bad) so I can move on. Anyone else refreshing this thread every 10 minutes? Especially as more results are being posted from other schools. babyurbanist 1

I'm preparing myself for a rejection LOL and just want to get it over with. At least we have the March 5th expectation that they'll send out results by then. anxiousplanner 1
austinplanning256 Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Rooting for all of you Berkeley applicants. I was not brave enough to apply haha babyurbanist, yellowsurf and cityplace_uptown 2 1
anxiousplanner Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I'm in the exact same boat on Berkeley - at this point I'm bracing for a rejection, but I would just like to know! I'm also anxious to get UCLA responses (UCLA is probably my top pick at the moment), and hoping those aren't too delayed because of COVID. Funding is still the biggest unknown for me right now, so far the results I've gotten have either had minimal (as in so little you wonder why they bother) funding or have said funding information is still pending. alliecask 1
jgiara Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 How many of you fine folks are still awaiting USC results? Starting to get hyper anxious as it seems several dean's merit admissions have come out already. I just want to get a feel for how many of us have still yet to hear back. It's my first choice (one of only two schools I applied to) in the city I've been living and working in for five years now. I'm intimately familiar with the program, campus, and even have friends currently in the program (who were all very confident about my application). It seems like they were emailing instead of updating the portal, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the delay in these results given how early they've come in previous years. Thanks in advance! It's getting tough to focus on work for my job....haha. Why they gotta do us like this. planningfor2021, anxiousplanner and rogueginger 1 2
drew.m.b Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I still have yet to hear back from USC! Also waiting on UCLA, NYU Wagner, and Harvard. planningfor2021 and Dr.EJM 2

planningfor2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Still waiting on USC. I am becoming increasingly anxious as this goes on.
planning Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I haven’t heard back from a single school yet, including Berkeley! I’m still holding out hope but mentally preparing for a rejection since I know that was a bit of a reach. Patience is not my strong suit...

oliviaplanning Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Just wondering if anyone has applied to any Canadian universities? I've applied to Queens, UBC, and VIU. Have not heard back from any yet! anxiousraj 1

GMK Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 (edited) I think I’m the only person who applied to Ohio State (and only Ohio State), so seeing the admission results for the popular schools is exciting, but doesn’t give me additional insight. But, I’m here for the shared anxiety. Edited February 23, 2021 by GMK babyurbanist, planningfor2021, plannerd97 and 3 others 6

numenor Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 McGill just announced that they are returning to in-person teaching beginning Fall 2021! Wondering if anyone else has applied? Thoughts?

Wondering if anyone else has applied? Thoughts? I actually applied to McGill with the hope it would partially be online, as relocating isn't an easy decision for me. Anyways, this is a very premature announcement. One year ago we were still all in person, and I don't think any of us could have guessed where we are now. Six months from now is a mystery. I work at UBC and everyone is preparing for next fall to be online. Nothing is official, but we are preparing for the worst. This may of course change. Also, the COVID situation in Quebec is incomparably worse than British Columbia.

My partner teaches at UBC and just received an update from the administration that hints at the possibility of a hybrid environment come fall–though I certainly wouldn't be surprised if classes remain online. I've applied to the MCRP program but would prefer to head out east as I did undergrad at UBC. Sigh. Sure is hard to plan around all of this uncertainty! anxiousraj 1
