I emailed my Fulbright Campus Advisor last night, I am hoping he responds in some way that gives me a clue...or maybe he'll just tell me!

They're not allowed to give any clues sad.gif but maybe yours will bend the rules...

let's all find stuff to do today that will distract from our fulbright worries... chocolate usually works.

Chocolate is a cure-all, so is eating in general. Haha.

my advisor confirmed we will find out tomorrow. am ill with anticipation (and potential heartache)!

Being rejected by them doesn't hurt much - after a year or so it gets better

That totally sucks! My advisor just said he got an email stating they moved the notification date up. :-(

Hey all,

I'm new to this board, and after tomorrow I may well disappear again (if things don't go well), but in the meantime I just wanted to let you all know that I just emailed the Fulbright advisor on my campus and she says she's already been notified of who the finalists are and expects we'll hear tomorrow. I was hoping she'd hint one way or the other but she says she's "sworn to secrecy." alas! Anyway, I just thought this info might be of value to you all. Have a good one!

I am guessing they inform the advisors a day ahead of applicants so they can either buy tissues at Costco or find a bunker to lay low in.

My advisor just emailed me back and said "Yes, I heard they are sending out notifications on the 21st. So, we'll see."

Am I overreacting to assume doom based on his 14 word response?

In a word? Yes. Would I do the same thing though? Yes. :) Keep in mind your FPA might just take his or her duties very seriously. Many university bureaucrats do - at least at my university. Even the Residence Life folks think they're changing the world - when in actuality they just giggle in their offices all day long and putz around on Facebook.

Good luck to you Rachaelski!!

Ha, thanks for the reality check!

Side note, my Fulbright Campus Advisor works in the International Studies department, so it includes international students and student programs for studying abroad. Like most states, NM is in a HUGE budget shortfall, and in turn the University is as well. An international student told me that my university is cutting international exchange programs by 66%! I couldn't believe it. All programs are cutting and being cut, but 66%? I am so disappointed. International students are such an important part of a university community. It breaks my heart.

That was about a minute of NOT thinking about Fulbright. I need to go check my email again.

Good luck to all my Fulbright-hopeful friends on here.

I heard that the campus Fulbright advisors get notified a day before the applicants. So your advisor probably knows whether you made it to round two already.

It seems my advisor is out of the loop then...I emailed him earlier this week asking when we would hear (this was before I found the date of the 24th myself) and he said the 31st.

My stomach is suddenly in knots with the possibility of knowing tomorrow. And you all are right -- a positive notification is great but it also means we start the waiting game allll over again. Ugh, I feel sick.

Good luck everyone!

Just got an email from my campus advisor. I'm a finalist for the Netherlands. Very grateful!

Some of your advisors may have responses already, so it's worth asking.

Congrats! That's excellent, and you are so lucky to have a ruling-breaking campus advisor!!!!

Go out and celebrate while the rest of us fret! I love the Netherlands! A good friend of mine teaches photography in Leiden.

YAY SlyStone!!!!

CONGRATS!!!! Definitely will keep my fingers crossed for all the others too.

Rachaelski: Don't stress it. Your advisors message means nothing - I think he/she would have been a little more consoling if you didn't make it.

As for myself I am not feeling all that confident at this moment. I wish I knew why I got rejected last year so I could have made the necessary changes. My advisors ranked me the highest of applicants last year and I didn't make it past round 1????

very specific question, but does anyone have an idea of what time to expect an email? I'm currently living in Paris and curious to know in about what time-frame I should start incessantly hitting refresh/freaking out? i'm thinking it just might be throughout the day:(

Good luck everyone!

Ha. I'm in Germany and am wondering the same thing.

I'd think, since Fulbright is sponsored through State, that they'll likely send out the emails towards the end of their work day...as to avoid having to deal with the emails of heartache/confusion/threat until the following Monday. This would mean we wouldn't know until, probably, 11 PM ish? As it's a Friday, I'll just go out and party...my life away. Here's to hoping the morning thereafter will be brightened with a congratulatory email!

Are there any computer geniuses among us? Someone who could hack into the Fulbright system and tell us if we made it? I kid, I kid.....but seriously!

Felonies won't help our collective karma! We need karma and everything else on our side! :)

So I also emailed my campus advisor and she basically said the following:

1. She has gotten the results.

2. She can't tell me b/c Fulbright said so.

3. I will find out tomorrow.

4. She is "pleased with the results." [smiley face]

Hmm, I don't want to make something out of nothing.

So I am going to find chocolate and amuse myself with nonsense. Haha.

I think "Congrats" are in order - I can't imagine her being "pleased with the results" if you didn't get through to the next round.

Now let's not get carried away. So I'm not one to be very optimistic. Unless my campus advisor was a cold-hearted B, then she would probably say that, but she isn't. Haha.

But I will wait ... this somewhat eases my anxiety ...

Well done!! I wish my campus adviser wasn't sticking to the rules and could just release me from the misery of the unknown...

Rachaelski: Madame Cleo sees you crossing many waters to do your research on a Fulbright!

Or at least give hints in smiley faces! I was "hoping" for a hint ... but before I got the email I realized a hint might just make this waiting worse. I'll take the hint as neutral to good. Haha.

But don't worry! We'll all find out DEFINITIVELY tomorrow.

Does anyone know what time they send the results out? I think someone alluded to this question above.

What a shocker! I can't believe they changed the notification date. I applied last year and I received the email at exactly 5pm CST. I probably won't check my email until 5pm...I feel this is the best way to avoid being absent minded at work and checking it every five minutes.

Malaysia anyone?

Good luck!
