Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just emailed the admissions director for Harvard's BBS program and he indicated that all interviews were already sent yesterday. Definitely bummed out but on to other things!

Who did you email?

Just received an invitation to the in-person visit weekend for UT Austin ILS (January 27-29 on campus)! Super excited, this is my first on site visit and one of my top programs.

Hi! Same here, just got an invite for UT Austin (ILS, CMB program) same weekend:). Congrats!! really excited to go in person too,  I was shocked that it's on site and had to read multiple times

Hi! I've heard from Stanford, I applied to the Molecular and Cellular Physiology home program and they said this. And that the  official invite will come in the next few weeks anyway. So yeah it's mostly january 3rd week as other people saidimage.thumb.png.d8d494b7560325a58e783f800415652c.png

Got an interview from WashU today! Kinda thought I was rejected since they sent out a bunch last week so that's pretty cool.

I only haven't heard back from Purdue and Harvard now, but it sounds like Harvard is a silent rejection at this point (I applied MCO so I'm not sure if that's any different but probably not). I'm excited to no longer have to constantly refresh my email at this point haha.

Is it known whether all UPenn CAMB interviews went out? Including for the MVP track?

For those who have received interview invitations, are invites and details viewable within the application portal? Or only in the email you received? My email has been sorting important emails into my spam or promotions/social folder, and I'm becoming increasingly paranoid that I will miss an email.

I saw in the results page that someone was invited for an interview today

Probably me with the population health track. Received an email invite today. The interview dates are Jan 10 (welcome session) + Jan 11/14 (faulty interviews). I do not know if they've sent out all interviews, the schedule seems very generic for everyone.

Also an email interview today from WUSTL DBBS Biomedical Informatics and Data Sciences program.

From the 3 invites I've received so far, they've been by email. Though I've heard that some might be updated by the online portal, depending on the institution.

Thank you for updating us! Did your status on the Rutgers page change from submitted to in review? Mine is still "submitted" and I'm panicking if I'm missing anything. ?

@anxiously_refreshingMy Rutgers application portal also still says “submitted” but I received an interview invite too!

They sent an email with the subject line “Rutgers University, Molecular Biosciences Graduate Programs - Invitation to a Virtual Campus Visit”. It looked personalized and not like a mass email.

I submitted my application pretty early, like mid-October. Hope that helps!

WOW. Mid-October's super early. I guess I'll just have to wait. I submitted mine really late (like late November).  Thank you so much for replying!! This really helped with my anxiety.

Guys I'm an international applying to biomedical programs with focus on genetics mostly.. I didn't receive any invitations to interview yet :S I would appreciate if you could take a look at my profile and shed some ligh on what's holding me back/ what  could work on to make a stronger application in the future:

----

UG - Medicine at a Federal School in Brazil (Pass - I have an average of 7.04/10 for my graded courses, but nearly half my school hours were granted an ungraded pass mark).

PG - Residency in Medical Genetics, in Brazil 3 years (Pass)

Research experience -  combined 6 months undergraduate (1 summer research full time + several months part time at home institution): >2 years part time postgraduate (equal to about 8 months full time)

Work experience - nearly 2 years at a clinical diagnostics lab + clinical experience

Publications - One 2nd co-author, one in the middle of the author list  (both large journals of genetics). One book chapter accepted for publication

Presentation - 2 posters at international conferences

LORs - 3 good letters from my professors in Brazil, 2 academic, 1 professional

GRE General: 170 verbal / 161 quantitative reasoning / 6 writing

TOEFL: 119/120

Other: I contacted potential supervisors in all the schools I applied to, to discuss research interests and availability of places in their lab for rotating students next year. Got positive replies from them, but the contact was brief (basically 1 e-mail from me and 1 reply from them)

 -----

My teachers/professors don't have any experience with applications to international programs, so they couldn't offer any advice about which schools to apply or what to do to improve my chances... I would apreciate if some of you guys could help me out in this regard. My applications:

Applied: Harvard BBS, Harvard Chemical Biology, UCLA Bioscience, NYU Vilcek, Rockefeller, MIT Biology

Interview: So far not a single one :(

Hey there! Also an international student applying to genetics programs. Thought I had a decent shot too and applied to some of the programs you did with no interview invites Rip. In my emails with them, seems like across the board, most biomed programs were INUNDATED with applicants this season with some receiving almost 2x the average # of applicants. Definitely in part due to COVID's effects on last year's cycle, and it seems that the competition was fierce this year while the available # of slots remained constant.
