Thanks!

GSU's admit process is a little different than most places because they have two admit periods. Unless you are rejected outright it probably means they are still considering your application. Some of the current PhD students didn't hear until March, and for the later application deadline some didn't hear until May. GSU's department is split between Public Comm and Moving Image Studies, with Public encompassing both the social science stuff, some media studies, PR, and rhetoric. I don't know how the MIS application process works.

Stats: 3.97 MA GPA, 650v790q, one conference paper (won top paper in the Student Division at NCA), and recommendations from big names in the field (which is rhetoric, by the way).

Good luck to those who applied to both GSU and NU!

By the way, I saw someone else noted getting an e-mail from Penn State on the 25th. Anybody claiming it?

Gooner, I applied to Texas at Austin too. Finger-crossed for both of us!

Cheers, mate! Did you also apply for the Journalism program or did you go Comm. Studies/RTF? I haven't heard a peep from them since my application was completed; make sure you let us know if you do, and I'll do the same. Someone noted getting an acceptance e-mail on the 18th (!) on the results page, so hopefully we'll be getting news soon.

I applied for Journalism too. The same as you, the last email from them was to let me know my app was completed. The coordinator said the committee would begin reviewing apps beginning Feb. Will let you know if i hear from them again. I think the one who noted that acceptance applied to Comm Studies.

Congrats, CDRR!!!!

@Strangefox, I received my official letter from Madison--you had asked about funding info earlier. The letter stated $14K, plus tuition, plus health insurance.

I love seeing the updates thread moving so much! Cheers to more good news from everyone.

That's a pretty darn nice package from Wisconsin. I'm waiting to hear back from Madison as well, but for Journalism. It'd be nice if they were so kind to me as well... :)

I was accepted to the CMCL program at Indiana this evening via e-mail!

Gooner: Mind sharing your stats?

Just PMed them to you, but for everyone else: they were not particularly outstanding. Parts were strong, parts were weak. Thankfully, it seems like the programs I've applied to have really been looking at the entirety of the application and not just the numbers I wrote in (granted, I've only been contacted by 2/7 so far ;)). This actually makes me very confident that I applied to the right places.

I just received good news today from UT Austin! It's way earlier than I expected, but I'm not going to complain. Does any one know when they typically send out funding offers? I applied to the MA program in Advertising.

Congrats to everyone. Looks like there was some good movement this week, certainly more than last week. Hopefully we will all start getting the answers the that one questions we all have...."did I get in?"

I have a friend who is not on this board (cant believe they can stand not looking at it every 5 min like us). She got a reject from Georgia State, PhD in moving images. She got the news by logging in to site and checking status. Figured I would post for those of you waiting on that program.

Here's to a great next week for us all getting some news and that news being what we want wink.gif

I saw someone post on the result page that he/she got a notification of interview with UNC in February. Was it one of us here? If yes, please share. Thanks

I also applied to UNC and heard nothing... But since I'm an international student, I guess there won't be any interviews. Still, waiting drives me crazy...

Why not? You can have phone interviews!

Oh I hope not... I had one interview with a school in summer (I didn't apply, though, but they wanted to get to know me) - and I really suck at interviews. I'm so nervous and I don't know what to say etc. So I hope they don't want to interview me.

Anyway, I didn't quite understand the result-entry: Did it say that they HAD the interview and will get the results (acceptance, rejection) in February? Or did it say that they just were NOTIFIED about an interview which will be held in February? If it's the latter, then it will take a couple more weeks until we will get any results...

Interviews in our field are almost inevitable but you should not be afraid of them. You just need to prepare well. Read different threads on this forum about interviews, rehearse your answers for the most common questions, put together a list of questions you want to ask.

Interviews are a very important part of the application process, not only because this is the way for schools to know more about us, but that's also how WE can learn more about schools and potential advisors. It's hard to make a right choice without an interview.
