I don't know, I tried using Firefox, Safari and IE, all to no avail, which leads me to think it's a glitch in their system.

Hi, don't panic. Perhaps the system is overloaded. It happened with me too. But rectified on its own after a while. The best way out is to of course contact the ad com directly. All the best!

I managed to get through, only to get the news that I was waitlisted. Sigh. This is, still, my dream program. :(

For the 35% or so of SIPA applicants who are still waiting for an award notification (like me - I applied to MPA - Economic & Political Development)....

In the most recent blog post (3-8-2011: "Follow up notes"), Matt writes that "The first batch of decisions we sent out included MIA and MPA applicants from all three categories that I commented on in recent posts: waitlist candidates, admitted candidates, and candidates not admitted to the program. It is true however that the Admissions Committee is still meeting to discuss scholarship offers and thus the first batch of decisions did not include any candidates offered a first-year scholarship award."

As it turns out, this wasn't news to the obsessive grad cafe addicts among us, as we'd already seen folks on the results board who were admitted, rejected, and wait listed. Does any one else wish he'd followed his first sentence, clearly stating "The remaining batches of rolling decisions we will send out will include MIA, MPA, and MPA-DP apps for all 3 categories as well: admitted, rejected, and waitlisted"? I infer this from the other comments, but I wish he'd said that directly if that is in fact the case.

( . . . )

Either enough people vocalized the same preference as above, or our dear Mr. Clemons frequents this forum. Thanks either way for the clarification! "$22,500 Conflict Resolution FellowshipMarch 10th, 2011 by Matt Clemons: I will have another update on the release of decisions soon, but I thought I would take a minor break on “decision only” entries and offer something for admitted candidates to consider. I will note that just as the decisions that have already been released belong to the three categories (admitted, waitlist, not admitted) the decisions yet to be released will also include these three categories."

I was wondering if anyone could offer any insight into Columbia's waitlist situation - are there a lot of people on it, etc. I know at this point it's pure speculation because it varies from year to year, but it would be great to have some background info nonetheless. :)

I would also appreciate any insight into the SIPA waitlist.

I don't have any special insight, but you might find it helpful to look at the results from years past. I'm sure the % of candidates accepted off the wait list varies from year to year depending on yield, but it certainly seems like (last year) they ended up accepting a fair number of waitlisters - and they did so in through May. My impression is that some accepted students end up turning down the SIPA offer due to cost and competing offers. Admissions will have a much better sense of how many to accept off the wait list once decisions for other schools come out and prospective students pay their deposit.

As far as submitting updates and additional info - I have no idea.

I was waitlisted last year and was offered admission in late-April.

I think there's a decent chance for people on the wait list since SIPA has such a large intake class compared to smaller programs like WWS and MSFS.

I don't know if that helps, but as an admitted student, SIPA gives you until 05/02 to make a final decision and pay a deposit.

Anyone heard back with 1st year scholarship offers? Or from the 35% that wasn't notified earlier one way or the other?

I'm still anxiously waiting.

My numbers are 3.7/ V 680/ Q 790/6.0 from a top liberal arts college, 2 years foreign work exp. so I'm hopeful this wait is a good wait

I GOT A REJECTION...... :(

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back and to those waitlisted and hoping to get in.

Sorry to hear about the ding - if you choose to reapply next year, I'm sure you'll know the whole process inside and out and it will be much easier as a result.

Did anyone receive an offer for an scholarship or for the IFP?

Has anyone who applied to the MPA (IFEP) received an answer?

I got in but I did not get any funding. If you get any scholarship or you were admitted to the IFP, it will say so on your admission letter...according to the latest blog from SIPA. Good luck!

I applied to the MPA - IFEP concentration and have not heard anything yet. Did you apply to IFEP as well? Perhaps that department has not finalized decisions yet, then?

Well I received my acceptance this Monday...and I applied to the IFEP program...

Thanks for the information, then this program isn't treated separately.....

I know this is easier said than done, but as indicated in a blog post shared by a previous member, I wouldn't read too much into the timing of your response.

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS A PROBLEM SEEING THEIR DECISION STAT!!!

Guys, I had the same problem yesterday and I was freaking out because all that was opening was a blank page with a "Print" button. But after I logged out and logged back in a few times, the decision letter came up. So just keep trying until it opens. It will!!! GOOD LUCK!

IMPORTANT!!!!! DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS!?!?!? It's posted in the Results section and coming from a person who applied to the MPA-DP program.

Accepted. March 10. This response was really weird!!! I received a rejection from SIPA and 1 hour later, I received an urgent message from Matt Clemons apologizying and offering me admission. He wrote that there had been serious technical problems and many students who received rejections were actually accepted!!!
