rubose Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Congrats to the UCLA admits! Enjoy sunny Los Angeles, from what I've seen, the UCLA campus is beautiful. Congrats, Rubose! You thinking of attending? Thanks! @ssparkle- UCLA is definitely my top choice. I'm visiting next month too. I'm waiting to hear whether or not I got this fellowship, so if that comes through I definitely be there. What about you?
cellistmeg Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) Not sure if anyone else is in this position, but I hedged my bets this application year by applying to PhD programs as well as overseas research fellowship programs. I got news that I have received a DAAD... so now I am turning down my PhD acceptance offers. I realize I'm in a lucky position, but one of my PhD acceptances is my dream school. It has been tough... I know I will be a better candidate for next year, but part of me is still a little sad. Edited March 9, 2012 by cellistmeg
Karajan Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Congrats to all the UCLA admits! That is great news! And congrats to Meg on the DAAD! That is a great honor! Herzlichen Glückwunsch! As for me... No news from Yale! I am just about ready to write them off...

purpledinosaur Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I'm sad to say that apparently Yale has already spoken with the people they will be admitting. It's unofficial but I have no reason to doubt this information. Maybe we're on the waitlist...?

snes Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Yes, Yale was accepting people (that didn't post here) back in mid-Feb. Implicit waitlists exist, though. But it seems Yale has notified some waitlists already, too.
acaba Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 does anybody know when to expect NYU Steinhardt decisions?

I wish they'd tell us something official though, instead of making us wait around! alice hughes 1
snes Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 does anybody know when to expect NYU Steinhardt decisions? If it helps any, last year I was accepted in late March (Music Tech, MM). Good luck!
purpledinosaur Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Not a surprise at all. I wish they'd tell us something official though, instead of making us wait around! For reals.
comp12 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 NYU GSAS expects to release notifications this week.
crimten Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Has anyone heard from UCLA for performance MM? Auditions were beginning/middle of February, I'm imagining it should be soon?
snes Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Beware the Ides of March!! Opening my email to a full-out rejection from a school that made me believe they liked me. Et tu, Columbia? Where was my soothsayer? comp12 1
comp12 Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Just got my Columbia rejection as well. You don't want me? I don't want you!
Dharma Bum Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Has anyone else heard nothing from Duke's Musicology program? At this point, I'm just interested to see how long it is going to take them.

NO. (edited to clarify: I haven't heard anything either) In fact, at a trivia game last night, I was tasked with thinking of the 10 college basketball teams that have been in the final four the most times, or something. I FORGOT DUKE. Edited March 16, 2012 by snes
womp Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Anyone else apply to Brown's MEME (Multimedia & Electronic Music Experiments) program? The suspense is killing me.
snes Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Duke sent me an email that began with "We were pleased..." and ended with "LOL JK click here for your rejection letter!" Something like that. comp12 1
Dharma Bum Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Well, I haven't received mine yet, but I'm sure it is on the way.
