Hey,

RISD asked me for an interview last week via e-mail. That was for the sculpture program though, so I'm not sure if the other departments with in the same time line or anything. Good luck!

Congrats! From reading here, you're the first to get an answer from RISD. I applied to the 2 year MFA graphic design program.

I've got my fingers crossed for painting emails to go out next, that's for sure.

Yay. I got into University of Wisconsin! I am waiting to hear from 5 others but I'm thinking I might accept UofW because they offered me a full ride. Any future classmates out there?

I also got into Wisconsin for Painting and it's one of my favorite programs. I was wondering, though, did you have to submit the financial aid application for the TAs and PAs? They told me they weren't making decisions about funding until the applications were due on the 24th.

That is also what I was told. I was also told that 1st years don't always get funding but 2nd and 3rd years almost all get funding so not to worry if you don't get it right away.

Just got back from my interview at Univ of Chicago...though not "ranked" uber high, there are some excellent profs and the new Logan Center for the Arts that is being finished is going to propel this program into big player status over the next decade (i.e., the University's commitment to the arts in general, and the MFA program in particular, esp. with the unbelievable resources that will now be available to the program)...very impressive.

Way to go, Outwest! UofC is a great school to consider; ivy league, beautiful campus. You'll be close to the Renaissance Society gallery in Hyde Park (and you're not too far from the West town gallery district). Catherine Sullivan teaches there, pretty exciting for a new media major. Plus, you get to eat in the "Hogwarts" dining hall.

Wait, University of Chicago is in the ivy league now??!

I wish I'd applied to UofC, it seems perfect.

I've always heard they were.

*Edit*- they are considered "Ivy Plus" as opposed to being truly one of the Ivies, along with Stanford and MIT according to Wikipedia.

I think UIC might be a better choice for painters, as UofC is an interdisciplinary MFA program, but I haven't looked at their faculty for some time.

Hahaha, it is like something out of HP, right? Indeed, there are a number of venues (like the Ren Soc) that tie into the school, and I really enjoyed talking to their excellent profs (I interviewed with Profs. Sullivan and William Pope.L)...all very nice too.

Lol, no, it's not literally part of the Ivy League, but academically it certainly is at the top of the heap (with Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Stanford out west)

I think you are quite right that it's awesome for new genres/Interdis. more so than painters, etc. That certainly seemed to be the case for the students I met in the program

Ran down to see if the mail had come and was reminded that it was a holiday. NOOooooooo!!

Really scared/excited for this week!

Oh man thanks for reminding me, I was about to go check, hahaha.

On an unrelated note, I just got an email from TX Tech offering to fly me down & pay for a hotel for me to come visit! YES

just heard from Tyler for photography MFA--interview next Monday.

Me too! I'll be doing a skype interview as the short notice flights are expensive.

I also got an email from VCU for a phone interview. I'm really, really stoked about that one. I think VCU has killer photo faculty and I'm really shocked that they are not a top ranked photo school considering that they are highly ranked in just about every other art media. What do all you guys think of photo at Tyler, VCU, OSU, and WUSTL?

PS - phone interview today with SFAI. Another top (but expensive) school.
